Abstract:
In a first step, in a printed material web (1) moved in a feed direction, a first material web part (5) which is formed by a material web section (1a)is folded against the rest of the material web (6) that is formed from two material web portions (1b, 1c)).In the region of a connecting line (2b) extending between neighbouring material web sections (1b, 1c) the two material web parts (5,6) are connected to one another by a means of a bonding adhesive. In a subsequent step the material web (1) is folded again along a line (2b) extending between two neighbouring material web sections. (1b, 1c)All material web sections (1a, 1b, 1c) lie above one another. Subsequently, multi-page sub-products (11), the pages (12a, 12b, 12c) of which are connected to one another in the region of the spine (13) of the sub-product, are separated from the twice-folded material web (1). Finally, the sub-products (11) are placed on top of one another to form a stack (16) and are connected to one another in the region of the spine (13) thereof by means of a bonding adhesive.
Abstract:
In order to form stacks, of which each forms a book block, folded sheets are provided with an adhesive application or layer of adhesive before they are placed on one another. Said adhesive application is applied to the sheets adjacent to the folded edge of said sheets and extends in the direction of said folded edge which comes to lie in the spine of the book block. The adhesive can be applied as a continuous track or as a track which is interrupted multiple times, or else in a punctiform manner. The sheets are joined to one another in the stack by means of said adhesive application, with the result that they maintain their position within the stack during further transport of the stack.

Abstract:
The conditioning rolls of a crop harvester have intermeshing metal ribs arranged in a herringbone pattern, each rib comprising a pair of end-to-end segments that converge spirally from opposite ends of the roll to a centermost apex. Alternative embodiments provide a single pair of metal herringbone rolls, two pairs of metal herringbone rolls, or a front pair of metal herringbone rolls and a rear pair of compressible surface herringbone rolls.

Abstract:
Hydraulic "squeeze cylinders" control the size of the discharge orifice on an extrusion baler and are operated by a control circuit that relieves pressure in the cylinders in response to the buildup of a certain predetermined pressure level in the circuit. Pressurized fluid for the squeeze cylinders is supplied by a single-acting pump cylinder that is connected between the reciprocal plunger head and its push rod in such a way as to deliver a slug of pressurized fluid into the circuit on each compression stroke of the plunger, the pump drawing in a fresh slug from a reservoir during each retraction stroke of the plunger. A pilot-operated relief valve is operated by circuit fluid when the latter reaches the predetermined pressure level to open a relief path for fluid in the squeeze cylinders, and specially calibrated ports in the circuit between the pump and the cylinders cause the relief valve-operating portion of the circuit on the pump side of the calibrated ports to exist at a higher pressure level than the remaining portion on the squeeze cylinder side.

Abstract:
A hay baler provided with a tubular duct within which charges of crop material are prepared before being stuffed into the baling chamber has a windrow pickup device at its front end to lift crop materials off the ground as the baler advances. The effective operating width of the pickup is wider than the inlet to the duct so that the stream of crop materials lifted off the ground must be converged centrally into alignment with the inlet before entering the same. A pair of lower stub augers on opposite sides of the inlet are assisted by a pair of upper stub augers rotating in opposite directions relative to the lower augers to accomplish such convergence. A windguard overlies the incoming crop flow as well as the consolidation zone between left and right sets of the stub augers so as to maintain effective control over the flow at all times.
Abstract:
A windguard is adapted to be attached to the frame of a crop pickup in overlying relationship to the pickup tine rotor so as to control the incoming flow of crop materials. A transversely extending crop hold down portion of the windguard is pivotally supported between the front ends of a pair of fore-and-aft extending support arms that are pivotally attached at their rear ends to the frame of the pickup so that the windguard can articulate as it is moved up and down relative to the pickup by engagement with inflowing crop material.
