Abstract:
Provided is a lay-flat book block production apparatus. The apparatus comprises a glue dispenser, the glue dispenser to transition between an active state in which glue is to be provided to one side of the web which is to be guided past the glue dispenser and an inactive state in which glue is not to be provided to the web which is to be guided past the glue dispenser. The apparatus further comprises a folding unit, wherein the folding unit is to fold the web along a plurality of crease lines wherein each of a plurality of flat portions of a side of the folded web faces another of the plurality of flat portions of a same side.
Abstract:
A method and resulting product of generating a bible torah or other religious text personalized to an intended recipient. The person giving the bible selects a characterization of a bible, such as a cowboy bible, truck driver's bible, lawyer's bible, children's bible, woman's bible and the like. Then the giver selects an age group of the intended recipient of the bible. Based on this information the system then presents a form for the giver to select from a list of problems experienced by said intended recipient. The giver is then given an opportunity to select additional passages from the bible or other sacred texts to be highlighted. A personalized message with sections highlighted which related to an intended recipients age and problems. This message can be a bound volume produced by the steps of feeding lightweight paper through a printer, printing using an inkjet technique or other relatively thinly deposited ink to print on said paper to result in producing printed paper, and binding said printed paper into a volume. The inventive combination may incorporate lightweight or ordinary paper in one volume of a scriptural or underlying religious text (such as the Holy Bible, the Torah, or the Qur'an) and a biographical text detailing the triumphs and hardships of the life of either a celebrated public figure or an extraordinary but seemingly every-day character. By cross-referencing these two texts, and packaging them in a single volume form where they can easily be flipped between, the teachings of a particular religious faith can be made more readily accessible to the public at large.
Abstract:
A booklet making method includes: cutting a web of paper on one side and on another side into first and second continuous sheets, alternately bonding the first and second continuous sheets widthwise with a setting paste and a throwaway paste to form a double set continuous sheet of paper, and cutting the double set continuous sheet of paper into split double sheets of a selected longitudinal length. A plurality of split double sheets is integrally bound with an integrating paste to form a booklet-like product. Portions of the booklet-like product which are pasted and bonded with the throwaway paste are cut off to provide a plurality of booklets. Thus, by the booklet making method, booklets having an odd number of leaves or pages are formed without waste of paper and with reduced paper jams.
Abstract:
For manufacturing printed products such as books or booklets consisting of a stack of paper sheets adhesively joined together and folded along a middle line, a plurality of paper webs are brought together to form a stack of paper layers moving continuously. Into the continuously moving stack a liquid binder is injected along equidistant lines perpendicular to the moving direction of the stack. After binder injection, two, additional webs are brought together with the stack to cover the stack on both sides. Then the stack is cut midway between each pair of junction lines to form individual stacks and the individual stacks are folded along the junction line.
Abstract:
Apparatus is disclosed for folding sheets and for slitting the folded sheets to form adjacent parallel rows or streams of folded sheets being conveyed by belts into a stacking station. A jogger located adjacent the conveyor belts may jog folded sheets laterally to indicate a predetermined count of sheets in a column. The folded sheets in each column are fed by the belts upward against stops. A generally horizontal support holds a container to receive parallel streams of on-edge vertical folded sheets each of which is pushed into the container while on-edge and vertical by a succeeding folded sheet. The container is removed having parallel rows of on-edge, vertically positioned, folded sheets stacked therein.
Abstract:
To permit compact construction, a combination cylinder (3) having thereon cutting grooves for cooperation with cutting knives (5) of a cutting blade cylinder (4), grippers (7) and folding blades (8) receives a web or a plurality of superposed webs (2), to be cut into cut copy products or elements (17). The elements (17) are transferred to a collection cylinder (10), to be gripped by grippers (11) thereon and transferred to grippers (13) on a stapling head cylinder (12). The stapling head cylinder, if the stapling heads are energized, staples the webs together, and transfers them to grippers (7) on the combination cylinder which, in turn, folds the stapled sheets by operation of the folding blades thereon in association with folding jaws of a folding jaw cylinder (15) located adjacent the combination cylinder. The stapling head cylinder and the folding jaw cylinders are located, at least in part, laterally of the combination cylinder, so that the apparatus does not require substantial height. The stapling heads can be selectively operated, so that unstapled copy products likewise can be handled.
Abstract:
A method for the production of books or bound documents from a material web (4) which comprises folding lines (6,7) or perforation lines arranged at a distance from one another and whose one side possesses a thin coating of an adhesive capable of being activated, includes printing the web (4) with the desired text and subsequently folding the web together in a folding pattern. After folding together of the web (4) the adhesive is activated so that layers with adhesive facing one another are joined together to form book-pages which can be bound together in a cover (15).
Abstract:
This invention relates to a circulating multi-forming continuous printing machine and in particular to one including a number of several printing mechanisms with each a belt type printing roller, and being arrayed in a parallel type configuration, and working synchronously, a rolling cutter which is installed behind the printing machine mentioned above and used for cutting paper, one paper feeding table which is next to the rolling cutter, and the surface is a tilting plane which inclines at a certain angle, a number of aluminum sheets being disposed thereon, a plurality of pairs of roller wheels being mounted on opposing sides of each of the aluminum sheets at an appropriate distance, and where one of each pair of roller wheels being larger than the other, a number of collecting plates which are designed to be tilting planes having a slot therethrough, and a number of movable collecting rods which are installed among the collecting plates.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a case maker comprising a cardboard feed, a blank feed, a glue applicator, the joining device, a turn-in device, a delivery unit and a control unit, with a spreading device of the cardboard feed being arranged downstream of a first cardboard cutting mechanism in the product flow in order to position the cardboard blanks produced from a common cardboard sheet by means of the first cardboard cutting mechanism spaced apart from one another.
Abstract:
A process for the production of books (22) with digital printing from signatures, in which the book comprises signature groups (33), each formed with basic sheets (34), are parts of respective signature sheets (42). The process employs a manufacturing system (21) which includes a transversal cutting equipment (41) for cutting transversally the signatures sheets, and transversal and longitudinal folding equipment (46) for the formation of respective signatures (48). For a book with at least a sheet section devoid of text and/or figures in a last signature group, the method provides: a) identify a reduced signature group (59) including a number of sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures; b) cut the paper strip (23) to separate the reduced signature group as reduced signature group; c) actuate the transversal folding equipment (46) limited to the sheet sections having at least a page with text and/or figures and skipping the actuation of the transversal folding equipment (46) for a single sheet section; and d) actuate the longitudinal folding equipment (47) for folding longitudinally the reduced signature group.
