Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, in a group conversation in a message thread on a messaging application, a request to access a game from inside the message thread from one or more users of a group of users associated with the message thread; generating an anonymized context identifier (ID) for the message thread; providing the context ID to a game bot associated with the game, the game bot being a software agent configured to act automatically on behalf of the game, the context ID being used by the game bot to interact with the group of users associated with the message thread; and sending, by the game bot using the context ID, instructions for presenting a game window within the message thread on one or more instances of messaging applications running on one or more client systems associated with the one or more users of the group.

Abstract: Techniques to manage client location detection are described. In one embodiment an apparatus may comprise a location-based services support component and a client management component. The location-based services support component may be operative to determine that a network service is scheduled for a location update from a mobile device, determine a location accuracy based on the network service, and update the network service with a received location of the mobile device. The client management component may be operative to transmit a location request to the mobile device, the location request specifying the location accuracy determined based on the network service and receive a response to the location request from the mobile device, the response comprising the location of the mobile device conforming to the specified location accuracy. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system may access an image associated with an online social network, where the image is associated with a first user and portrays at least a first person. The computing system may generate one or more tag suggestions for the first person portrayed in the image. Each tag suggestion corresponds to a second user from a set of second users associated with the online social network. The one or more tag suggestions may be generated based at least in part on a proximity coefficient indicating a measure of geographical proximity of the first user with respect to each second users, where the proximity coefficient is based on a location history of the first user and a location history of each second user.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a log associated with a user. The log includes a number of entries that each indicate a geo-location of the user at a particular time of day of a particular day of a week. At least some of the data points being based on a geo-location determined and reported by a mobile computing device of the user without manual user input. The method also includes determining one or more geo-location centroids based on a distance between the respective geo-location centroid and each geo-location data point. Each geo-location centroid is representative of one or more of the geo-location data points obtained during the particular time of day of the particular day of a week.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile client system of a first user may determine a first location of the mobile client system, where the first user corresponds to a first node of a social graph of the online social network, the social graph comprises a plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges connecting the nodes, and each of the edges between two of the nodes represents a single degree of separation between them. The mobile client system may send an indication of the first location and one or more and one or more notification preferences to a computing system associated with the online social network. Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system may access an image associated with an online social network, where the image portrays at least a first person. The computing system may determine, for each user in a first set of users, a facial recognition score with respect to the first person portrayed in the image, where the facial recognition score is based on a facial representation associated with each user of the first set of users, where the facial representation associated with each user is compared with the image, and a comparison of a location history of each user with a location associated with the image. The computing system may generate one or more tag suggestions for the first person portrayed in the image based on the determined facial recognition scores.
