摘要:
A stapling system comprising a staple cartridge and an instrument assembly is disclosed. The staple cartridge comprises a cartridge body including a proximal end, a distal end, and a deck. The staple cartridge further comprises staple cavities defined in the cartridge body, staples removably stored in the staple cavities, staple drivers, and a sled movable between a proximal position and a distal position during a firing stroke. The sled is configured to lift the staple drivers toward the deck to eject the staples from the staple cavities during the firing stroke. The staple cartridge is attachable to the instrument assembly. The instrument assembly comprises a self-locking shaft configured to place itself in a locked state if the sled is not in the proximal position at the initiation of the firing stroke. The instrument assembly further comprises an anvil extending from the shaft configured to deform said staples.

A system is disclosed. The system can comprise a replaceable staple cartridge comprising a plurality of staples, a proximal laterally-protruding lug, and a distal laterally-protruding lug. The system can further comprise a channel configured to receive the replaceable staple cartridge, wherein the channel comprises a sidewall comprising a proximal receptacle positioned and dimensioned to receive the proximal laterally-protruding lug and a distal receptacle positioned and dimensioned to receive the distal laterally-protruding lug.

A surgical severing and stapling instrument, suitable for laparoscopic and endoscopic clinical procedures, clamps tissue within an end effector of an elongate channel pivotally opposed by an anvil. An E-beam firing bar moves distally through the clamped end effector to sever tissue and to drive staples on each side of the cut. The E-beam firing bar affirmatively spaces the anvil from the elongate channel to assure properly formed closed staples, especially when an amount of tissue is clamped that is inadequate to space the end effector. In particular, an upper pin of the firing bar longitudinally moves through an anvil slot and a channel slot is captured between a lower cap and a middle pin of the firing bar to assure a minimum spacing. Forming the E-beam from a thickened distal portion and a thinned proximal strip enhances manufacturability and facilitates use in such articulating surgical instruments.

A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument includes an elongate channel configured to support a staple cartridge, an anvil connected to the elongate channel, a movable cam member, an elongate shaft connected to the elongate channel, a housing coupled to the elongate shaft, and a transmission system. The anvil is movable between an unclamped position and a clamped position. The housing comprises a first rotary drive member, a second rotary drive member, a third rotary drive member and a fourth rotary drive member, each configured to be driven by a robotic surgical device. The transmission system is coupled to the first rotary drive member and is configured to drive at least two independent motions of the surgical instrument based on a rotation of the first rotary drive member. The at least two independent motions include a clamping motion and a firing motion.

A system for stapling tissue is disclosed. The system can include a channel and a compatible staple cartridge comprising a plurality of staples. The channel and the compatible staple cartridge comprise mating or cooperating alignment features for permitting complete insertion of the compatible staple cartridge and for preventing an incompatible staple cartridge from being completely inserted in the channel.

A surgical system for use with a robotic surgical system is disclosed. The surgical system comprises a stapling head, an elongate shaft coupled to the stapling head, and a rigid housing coupled to the elongate shaft. The housing comprises a first rotary disc member, a second rotary disc member, a third rotary disc member and a fourth rotary disc member. Each of the rotary disc members are configured to be driven by the robotic surgical system. Each rotary disc member is rotatable about a different axis to operate the stapling head. The first rotary disc member is configured to rotate more than a complete rotation about its axis to operate the stapling head.

A stapling assembly comprising a first jaw and a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is rotatable relative to the second jaw. The stapling assembly comprises a detachable cartridge portion comprising a plurality of staples and an anvil configured to deform the staples. The stapling assembly comprises a staple firing member comprising a first cam configured to engage the first jaw and a second cam configured to engage the second jaw when the staple firing member is advanced from an initial position, and wherein the first jaw comprises a clearanced opening configured to receive the first cam when the staple firing member is in the initial position such that the first cam is not engaged with the first jaw when the staple firing member is in the initial position.
