    摘要: Various forms are directed to systems and methods for coagulation and dissection of tissue. A surgical instrument includes an end effector configured to seal and dissect tissue at a distal end thereof and a generator circuit that is configured to deliver energy to the end effector. A force sensor is in communication with the end effector and is configured to measure a force being applied to the tissue by the end effector. The energy delivered to the end effector is dynamic based on a determination of the type of tissue interacting with the end effector. The tissue type is determined based on a tissue coefficient that is calculated based on the measured force applied to the tissue by the end effector, the ultrasonic motion of the end effector, and a rate of heat generated by the end effector.

    摘要: A surgical instrument system is disclosed which comprises a distal end and a staple cartridge assembly comprising staples removably stored therein. The instrument system further comprises a firing drive including an electric motor and a firing member operably couplable with the electric motor. The electric motor is operable to advance the firing member toward the distal end during a staple firing stroke to eject the staples from the staple cartridge. The electric motor is operable to retract the firing member away from the distal end during a retraction stroke. The surgical instrument system further comprises a manually-operated bailout mechanism operable to perform the retraction stroke in lieu of the electric motor, a controller, and a display in communication with the controller. The controller is configured to display the progress of the retraction stroke when the firing member is being manually retracted by the bailout mechanism.

In addition, the surgical instrument includes an ultrasonic transmission waveguide extending from the coupling portion and an ultrasonic treatment element defining a cutting surface, wherein the ultrasonic treatment element extends from the ultrasonic transmission waveguide, and wherein the lateral movement of the coupling portion is in a direction perpendicular to a plane defined by the cutting surface of the ultrasonic treatment element.
