The present invention discloses a method of re-transmission of a lost MMT packet by a packet transmission apparatus. The method includes generating a media processing unit (MPU) based on a media fragment unit (MFU) and generating an MMT asset by encapsulating the MPU; generating an MMT packet based on the MPU included in the generated MMT asset; and transmitting the generated MMT packet, wherein the method further comprises adding, in a signaling message related to re-transmission of the MMT packet, delay_constrained_ARQ_flag to indicate whether or not the MMT packet transmission apparatus supports a delay-constrained automatic repeat request (ARQ) function.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adaptive layer selection and a server having the same are provided. The adaptive layer selecting apparatus includes a monitoring unit monitoring a connection state of at least one channel connected through a communication network, a channel managing unit detecting available channels to be used for providing a service based on a result of the monitoring, and a layer managing unit determining the number of adaptive layers to be used for encoding based on bandwidths of changed available channels when the number of the available channels is changed.

A method of transmitting a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) Media Transport (MMT) signaling message for Measurement Configuration (MC) processing in an MMT sending entity. The method includes generating an MC message with header information by setting a measurement mode (measurement_mode), which indicates information on a measurement start time (measurement_start_time) of a measurement item in an MMT receiving entity, to one of: an immediate measurement start, a measurement start at a predetermined time, a measurement start based on a predetermined condition, and an immediate measurement stop; and transmitting an MMT packet including the generated MC message to an MMT receiving entity.

An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving a channel adaptive hierarchical broadcast are provided. A channel adaptive hierarchical broadcast transmission apparatus may include a multilayer video dividing unit to divide an input multilayer video bitstream into a first layer video bitstream and a second layer video bitstream, and a multi-transmission channel managing unit to determine transmission channels that are to be used to transmit the first layer video bitstream and the second layer video bitstream, among multiple transmission channels, and to output the first layer video bitstream and the second layer video bitstream to transmitters associated with the determined transmission channels, respectively.
