A display device according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention includes: a signal controller to process an input image signal and an input control signal to control output of a digital image signal; a gray voltage generator to generate a gray reference voltage; and a data driver to generate gray voltages based on the gray reference voltage from the gray voltage generator, to receive the digital image signal, and to output a portion selected from the generated gray voltages as a data voltage, wherein the gray reference voltage includes a first gray reference voltage for the input image signal and a second gray reference voltage for an insertion gray, and the gray voltage generator generates one of the first gray reference voltage or the second gray reference voltage according to the selection signal included in the control signal to be provided to the data driver.

The signal controller includes a frame memory storing the input image data, a calculator calculating a representative value of image data stored in the frame memory, a line memory storing the representative value, and a kick-back corrector generating auxiliary image data by correcting the representative value according to a kick-back voltage. The data driver applies an auxiliary voltage corresponding to the auxiliary image data to the data lines in a vertical blank period when displaying the still image.

The memory stores a first color correction data having the same number of bits as an input image data and a second color correction data having fewer number of bits than the input image data.
