Abstract:
A method and apparatus for prescribing overall club length for iron-type golf clubs for an individual player wherein the method comprises measuring the erect height (PH) of a player to be fitted, providing the player with a fitting ball club (FBC) having a spherical ball with a hosel bore therein, one end of a golf club shaft in the hosel bore and a golf club grip on the other end of the shaft, having the player hold the fitting ball club in address position as if about to hit a golf ball therewith, measuring the wrist-to-floor distance (WFM) vertically from the player's higher wrist to the floor, locating in the first two columns of the FIG. 4 table data corresponding to the PH and WFM measurements, respectively, for the player, deriving an incremental length LCC from the third, length control club column of FIG. 4, and adding that incremental LCC length to 37½ inches, thereby giving a prescribed overall club length for that player.
Abstract:
Composite media, systems, and devices for substantially removing, or otherwise processing, one or more constituents of a fluid stream. The composite media comprise a plurality of beads, each having a matrix substantially comprising polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and supporting one or more active components which are effective in removing, by various mechanisms, one or more constituents from a fluid stream. Due to the porosity and large surface area of the beads, a high level of contact is achieved between composite media of the present invention and the fluid stream being processed. Further, the homogeneity of the beads facilitates use of the beads in high volume applications where it is desired to effectively process a large volume of flow per unit of time.
Abstract:
A method is provided for heat transfer from a surface to a fluid. The method includes directing a first fluid flow towards the surface in a first direction and directing a second fluid flow towards the surface in a second direction. The first and second fluid flows cooperate to cool the surface.
Abstract:
A portable air compressor unit (10) having a housing (22) with a rear end (30) and front end (26). The housing (22) includes a rear louver (66) near the rear end (30), an exhaust outlet (74) near the front end (26) and a mid louver (70) between the rear and front end. A rear cooler set (82) and rear fan (106) are disposed within the housing between the rear louver and mid louver. The fan (106) draws cooling air into the housing through rear louver (66) and through the rear cooler set (82). A front fan (122) and front cooler set (130) are disposed within the housing (22) between the mid louver (70) and exhaust outlet (74).
Abstract:
A cylindrical test object for use in calibrating an ultrasonic bone analyzer has opposing ends that each contain a transducer seat optimized to allow intimate acoustic contact in spite of mechanical errors such as might be encountered in a scanning system. The test object is made of material having known ultrasonic characteristics. When opposing transducers are placed in the test object transducer seats, the test object is lifted off the holder and is free to rotate and translate over sufficient range to compensate for variances in the relative positions of the transducers. The shapes of the transducer ends and transducer seats are chosen to allow intimate acoustic contact in spite of any such translation or rotation. The test object may be a solid or a liquid encased in a solid.

An enclosed structure, such as a patio enclosure, sunroom, or solarium, is attachable to the exterior wall of a building, has a high proportion of windows and a roof, and constructed from a framework of composite members and insulating wall panels, the panels and wall members being extruded from material having improved thermal characteristics and stability.
Abstract:
A versatile, low cost scaffold is constructed of commonly available materials and is adapted to be placed upon the bed of a tilt bed truck. When thereupon placed, the platform of the scaffold remains level as it is raised by tilting the bed of the truck. The scaffold comprises a lower portion which rests upon and is securely fastened to the bed of the truck. An upper portion, which includes the platform and safety rails of the scaffold is connected to the lower portion on one side by means of a hinge.
