摘要: A marine propulsion device comprising a propulsion unit adapted to be pivotally mounted on the transom of a boat for pivotal movement relative to the transom about a generally vertical steering axis, the propulsion unit including a rotatably mounted propeller, and a powerhead drivingly connected to the propeller, a steering handle connected to the propulsion unit and extending generally horizontally therefrom for causing pivotal steering movement of the propulsion unit in response to lateral movement of the steering handle, and an extension handle assembly removably attached to the steering handle and including an extension handle, a coupling device including a plurality of fingers spaced around the steering handle and having respective inner ends pivotally connected to the extension handle, and respective outer ends biased outwardly from the steering handle, and a cylindrical sleeve surrounding the coupling device and being slideable around the fingers longitudinally thereof for moving the outer ends inwardly such that the fingers grasp the steering handle.

摘要: An electrically controlled shift and throttle system for a watercraft having multiple control stations is disclosed. The system has a number of control units having an elongated lever arm which can be moved in forward and reverse directions for shifting the transmission among forward, neutral, and reverse operating modes, as well as controlling the throttle of the engine for varying the operating speed thereof. The control units are electrically connected to a controller which also is electrically connected to a shift gear motor and throttle motor. Switches associated with each of the control units enables one of the control units to be selected as a master control unit and the nonselected control units then operate as slave units. During operation, the angular position of the master control unit lever arm is duplicated in the nonselected control units so that all control unit lever arms have the same angular orientation. A warm-up switch enables the throttle motor to be operated to vary the operating speed of the engine without shifting the transmission out of the neutral position.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion device comprising a transmission supported on the marine propulsion device and including a clutch member movable between a neutral position and a drive position, a shift lever supported on the marine propulsion device by a pivotal mounting and connected to the clutch member to effect movement of the clutch member in response to movement of the shift lever, and cam and follower structure adapted to be connected to a remotely actuated link and connected to the shift lever for displacing the shift lever to effect movement of the clutch member, and for permitting over-travel of the link without displacing the shift lever after shift lever movement effecting movement of the clutch member to the drive position, and for temporarily disabling engine ignition at the time of clutch member movement from the drive position.

摘要: A marine propulsion installation comprising a propulsion unit adapted to be pivotally mounted on the transom of a boat for pivotal movement relative to the transom about a generally vertical steering axis, the propulsion unit including a rotatably mounted propeller, and an engine connected to the propeller, a fuel conduit having a first end communicating with the engine for supplying fuel thereto, and a second end, a fuel tank defining a fuel chamber adapted to contain fuel, and a coupling apparatus including a first member mounted on the fuel tank and including an air ventilation passage communicating with the fuel chamber, a valve member movable between a closed position and an open position for respectively closing and opening the air ventilation passage, a pivotal lever movable between a first position and second position for respectively moving the valve member from the closed position to the open position, a spring for biasing the lever to the first position, and a first fuel pasageway including a first end communicating with the fuel chamber, and a second end, a second member adapted to be connected with the first member and including a projection for moving the lever from the first position to the second position against the force of the biasing spring when the first member is connected with the second member, and a second fuel passageway including a first end communicating with the fuel conduit and a second end adapted to be connected to the second end of the first fuel passageway to allow fuel to flow from the fuel chamber to the fuel conduit through the first and second fluid passageways when the first and second members are connected.

摘要: An oil system for a two-stroke outboard marine engine is disclosed. The oil system includes an oil system housing having an inlet, an outlet, and an oil return. The housing includes an oil filter base to receive a replaceable oil filter thereon. The oil is routed in a closed loop that includes an oil reservoir, the inlet to the oil system housing, through the replaceable oil filter, and is then returned to the oil reservoir. Periodically, a solenoid opens the closed loop system to divert oil to the two-stroke engine, at which time a remote vent valve is activated to allow air to enter the oil reservoir to displace the dispensed oil.

摘要: The present invention, in one form, is an oiling system for an outboard engine and includes an oil tank and an oil pump located within the tank. A manifold is coupled to the oil pump, and the manifold includes a solenoid controlled valve. The solenoid controlled valve controls the flow of oil through the manifold. The manifold further includes a plurality of check valves in flow communication with the solenoid controlled valve. The check valves are in flow communication between the solenoid controlled valve and the engine cylinders. The oil system, in the one embodiment, further includes a pressure regulator in flow communication with, and downstream from, the manifold. An outlet of the pressure regulator in flow communication with the oil tank, and allows oil to flow from the manifold to the tank when pressure in the system exceeds a preselected pressure. The oil system also includes a fuel solenoid controlled valve coupled to receive oil from the manifold and to supply oil to the engine fuel system. The engine includes an electronic control unit (ECU) for controlling the manifold solenoid and the fuel solenoid. In one embodiment, the ECU controls opening of the manifold solenoid valve and the fuel solenoid valve based on engine revolutions per minute.

摘要: A vent control system having a closed biased vent valve is used to separate vapor and/or air from a liquid in an enclosed chamber. The closed biased vent valve has a float having an upwardly extending float arm which cooperates with a lever arm of the closed biased vent valve to prevent unintended release of vapor or liquid from the enclosed chamber. The upwardly extending float arm and the lever arm are coupled to one another when the float is located beneath a designated level in the enclosed chamber and are decoupled from one another when the float rises above the designated level. The vent control system is much less susceptible to vibration induced vent opening than a traditional vent valve. The vent control system is well suited for use in a fuel vapor separator that includes a housing having the enclosed chamber formed within it.

摘要: The single lever control for operating the clutch and throttle of a marine motor has a support on which a sleeve is mounted on a pivot. A rod is mounted in the sleeve for axial movement. The distal end of the rod is actuated to move the rod and the sleeve about the pivot and also to move the rod axially relative to said sleeve. An actuating arm and a cam track cooperate to move the rod and sleeve in an arc about the pivot between first and second positions between which the clutch is operated by an operator actuated by rotation of the arm about its pivot. The actuating arm moves the rod axially relative to said sleeve when the arm is beyond the clutch operating range. The rod is connected to the throttle. A friction device acts on the rod to resist axial movement of the rod relative to the sleeve. The friction load resists change of the throttle setting but has no affect on clutch operation.
