摘要: A system for providing a selected digital medium to a customer on request. The selected digital medium has a selected title recorded thereon. The system includes a data storage device that stores a digital copy of available titles, a digital recording device, a blank digital media storage unit for storing blank digital media, a digital media inventory storage unit, and a digital media dispenser. The digital media inventory storage unit stores for available titles a predetermined number of digital media having a particular title recorded thereon. After the selected digital medium is requested by the customer, the digital recording device receives a digital copy of the selected title or another title and records the selected title or other title onto one of the blank digital media, which is then stored in the digital media inventory storage unit.

摘要: A method and system is provided for confirming and/or verifying receipt of a mailpiece by an intended mail recipient. The method includes the step of establishing a relationship between the intended mail recipient and an RFID tag affixed to the mailpiece. Upon delivery of the mailpiece, the actual mail recipient is caused to affect communication between an RFID enabled phone in the possession of the actual mail recipient and the RFID tag of the mailpiece. By comparing the information acquired by the RFID enabled phone and the RFID tag, (i.e., the relationship information stored on the RFID tag), a determination can be made as to whether the intended mail recipient is the actual mail recipient. Alternate embodiments of the invention effect confirmation/verification by capturing various biometric characteristics of the mail recipient and comparing such information to previously stored biometric data of the intended mail recipient.

摘要: Methods and systems that allow a sender of a mail piece to easily specify delivery instructions and/or services for a mail piece and that allows mail processing systems to identify and account for the specified delivery instructions and/or services without the need for any pre-sorting or input of information prior to processing the mail piece. The sender of a mail piece provides a marking on the mail piece representing instructions desired for delivering the mail piece. A mail processing system utilized to process the mail piece reads the marking provided on the mail piece, and based on the type/color of the marking, interprets the delivery instructions requested by the sender. The mail processing system processes the mail piece according to the instructions requested by the sender based on the marking provided on the mail piece by the sender.
