A prediction device (10A) that, in manufacturing of a polymer, predicts a performance value indicating performance of the polymer in a polymerization tank after a raw material is fed, and may include: an acquisition unit (111) that acquires, as a prediction observation value, an observation value observed, in current manufacturing of the polymer, as a value related to the manufacturing of the polymer; and a prediction unit (112) that predicts the performance value of the polymer being currently manufactured at a predetermined timing, from the prediction observation value acquired by the acquisition unit, by using a relation between an observation value acquired in past manufacturing of the same type of polymer as the polymer, and a performance value of the polymer at the predetermined timing in the past manufacturing.

Abstract: A water-repellent composition containing (1) a polymer having 2-100 wt %, with respect to the polymer, of a repeating unit derived from an amide group-containing monomer (a) represented by the following formula [wherein R1 is an organic moiety having an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group, R2 is a C7-30 hydrocarbon group, and R3 is a C1-5 hydrocarbon group], (2) a co-agent containing at least one co-agent compound selected from the group consisting of a blocked isocyanate compound, a melamine resin, a silicone polymer, a wax, an acetylene-based emulsifier, and a polyoxyalkylene group-containing emulsifier, and (3) a liquid media. Preferably, the water-repellent composition includes no fluoroalkyl group-containing monomer, and preferably no fluorine-containing monomer. Also disclosed is a method for producing the water-repellent composition, a method for treating a substrate with the water-repellent composition, and a method for producing a treated textile product which includes treating a textile product with the water-repellent composition.

Abstract: A water- and oil-repellent agent that is an aqueous dispersion containing (A) a fluorine-free polymer having repeating units derived from a fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer, (B) a wax, (C) an aqueous medium, and (D) an emulsifier. The fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer is a compound represented by the formula CH2=CA11-C(═O)—O-A12 where A11 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and A12 is a linear or branched C18-30 hydrocarbon group. The emulsifier includes a sorbitan ester and another emulsifier, and the emulsifier has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of 7.5 to 13.5. Also disclosed is a method of producing the water- and oil-repellent agent and a method of producing a treated substrate by applying the water- and oil-repellent agent to a substrate.
