Abstract: An apparatus for providing support to an elongated medical device is provided between a first device module and a second device module coupled to a linear member of a robotic drive for a catheter-based procedure system. The second device module is located in a position along the linear member distal to the first device module. The apparatus includes a device support having a distal end and a proximal end. A section of the device support is positioned within the first device module. The apparatus also includes a connector attached to the distal end of the device support. The connector includes an attachment mechanism for engaging a proximal end of the second device module. The proximal end of the device support is configured to be coupled to the second device module.

Abstract: A system includes a robotic drive comprising a plurality of cassettes, each cassette to move an elongated medical device (EMD) loaded therein, and an input module to issue instructions to the robotic drive. The input module includes a first two or more selection buttons to select a first two or more EMDs loaded in respective ones of the plurality of cassettes, a first control actuatable to cause issuance of an instruction to the robotic drive to simultaneously move each of the first two or more EMDs linearly, and a second control actuatable to cause issuance of an instruction to the robotic drive to simultaneously rotate each of the first two or more EMDs.

Abstract: A system for controlling a catheter-based procedure system that includes a robotic drive configured to control rotational motion and axial motion of one or more elongated medical devices may include a body, a first control coupled to the body, and a second control coupled to the body. First control is configured to instruct the robotic drive to axially move one of the one or more elongated medical devices in response to manipulation of the first control by a user, and the second control is configured to instruct the robotic drive to rotate one of the one or more elongated medical devices in response to manipulation of the second control by the user, wherein the first control and the second control are positioned on the body so the first control and the second control can be simultaneously manipulated by a first digit and a second digit on a hand of the user.

Abstract: A robotic drive system for a catheter-based procedure system includes a positioning system coupled to a patient table, the patient table having a front side and a rear side. The rear side of the patient table has a rail. The robotic drive system further includes a linear member coupled to the positioning system at a connection point and at least three device modules coupled to the linear member. Each device module is independently controllable and includes a drive module having a front side and a cassette mounted on the drive module. The cassette has a front side and is configured to support an elongated medical device having a longitudinal device axis. The cassette is mounted on the drive module in a vertical orientation so that the front side of the cassette is parallel to the front side of the drive. In addition, a width defined between the longitudinal device axis of the elongated medical device and the connection point of the linear member to the positioning system is equal to or less than a distance between an insertion point for the elongated medical device to a patient and the rail on the rear side of the patient table.

A load sensor is secured to the drive module base component and the load-sensed component sensing the actual load acting on the EMD.
