Abstract: A method of controlling the distribution of content in a network is described. The content traverses the network in packets comprising a packet header including an address associated with the content, and a packet payload including the content. The method includes obtaining the address associated with the content from the packet traversing the network and analysing the address to extract information associated with the content carried in the packet payload.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method that modifies a bit indexed explicit replication (BIER) algorithm. The method includes receiving a packet at a node, wherein the packet includes a BIER header identifying a bitstring, the bitstring including a first bit indicating a first destination and a second bit indicating a second destination and forwarding the packet through one or more networks toward the first destination and the second destination based on the bitstring and a predetermined bit selection order. The predetermined bit selection order causes a sequential delivery of the packet to the first destination and the second destination. After the packet arrives at the first destination, the method includes setting the first bit to zero in the bitstring and forwarding the packet through the one or more networks toward the second destination according to the updated bitstring.

Abstract: A method for routing a request for content from a content provider through an IPv6 network is described, the IPv6 network being an information centric network (ICN) in which content is directly addressed using at least a portion of an IPv6 address. The method includes receiving, at an IPv6 network, a request for content, determining that the request does not comprise an ICN address. The method further includes intercepting the request, and translating the request into an IPv6 address in which at least a portion of the address is directed to or associated with the piece of content. Systems and methods described herein address problems arising from the interaction between IP and ICN networking models.

Abstract: A method for retrieving content on a network comprising a first device and a second device is described. The method includes receiving in the network a request for content from the first device, the request identifying the content using an IPv6 address for the content, and determining whether the content is stored in a cache of the second device. Upon determining the content is stored in the cache of the second device, a request is sent to the second device for the content using the IPv6 address of the content. The content is forwarded to the first device from the second device, wherein the first and second devices are part of the same layer 2 domain. Methods of injecting content to a home network and packaging content are also described.
