The method generally includes determining a first number of the plurality of DSPs to operate in a ready state, determining a second number of the plurality of DSPs to operate in a first energy-saving state, and determining a third number of the plurality of DSPs to operate in a second energy-saving state. In some embodiments, the first energy-saving state corresponds to a dormant mode of the DSPs, and the second energy-saving state corresponds to a reset mode of the DSPs.
