Abstract: A method of indicating the presence of a target gas in a gas volume comprising providing a gas sensing core, configured for detection of the target gas, and a condition sensor within the gas volume, providing a controller, allowing gas to fluidly interact with the gas sensing core, monitoring a target gas measurement output from the gas sensing core, monitoring a parameter output from the condition sensor, recording a parameter output minimum value, calculating a parameter difference, calculating a rate of change of the parameter with respect to time, and indicating the presence of a target gas is detected in the gas volume when the target gas measurement exceeds a target gas measurement threshold value and the parameter difference is less than a parameter difference threshold value.

Abstract: A presence detection system and a method for detecting presence using a low-cost radar are provided. The method including a step for emitting a transmitted signal including repetitions of a transmitted signal from a transmitting antenna. The method includes a step for receiving, at one or more receiving antennas, a received signal including a combination of a plurality of reflections of the transmitted signal. The method includes, for each received signal, a step for processing the received signal to determine whether a threshold has been exceeded. When the received signal exceeds the threshold, determining presence due to a motion from a moving body. When the received signal does not exceed the threshold, measuring a periodicity of the received signal to determine whether periodicity of the received signal is within a vital range, determining presence due to a vital sign when the periodicity is within the vital range.

Abstract: A radar detection system can be calibrated by a method which includes selecting location indicators with corresponding locations. A transmitter of a sensor emits a radar signal to the location of each of the location indicators. The radar signal is reflected off of a target at the location of each of the location indicators. The radar signal which has been reflected off of the target is received with a receiver of the sensor. The location of the target at each of the location indicators is communicated between the sensor and a controller. Locations which define a protected region are selected with the controller. The controller designates the protected region, thereby calibrating the radar detection system such that the radar detection system is capable of detecting an object in the protected region. The calibrated radar detection system can detect targets in an operational mode.

Abstract: A radar presence detection system is configured to detect oscillations within a building. The radar presence detection system includes an accelerometer, a radar, and a processing unit. The accelerometer is attached to the building and configured to detect structural vibration waves. The radar is configured to transmit a monitoring wave and receive a reflected wave. The processing unit includes a filter, an adaptive filter, and a detector. The filter is configured to receive a first signal indicative of the reflected wave and output a filtered reflected wave signal spanning a frequency range indicative of an oscillation within the building. The adaptive filter is configured to receive a second signal indicative of the structural vibration wave signal and output a focused vibration signal spanning a frequency range for the cancellation of vibration noise.
