Abstract:
wherein Rf represents an unbranched or branched perfluoroalkyl radical with 3 to 12 carbon atoms, R represents hydrogen or fluorine, and R1 and R2 represent hydrogen or methyl and m is 1 or 2, n is a whole number from 2 to 12, and p is a whole number from 1 to 3, and optionally of other copolymerisable, ethylenically unsaturated monomeric compounds are provided. The polymerisation products can be homopolymers or copolymers. The polymerisation products are useful for producing oleophobic, hydrophobic or dirt repellent finishes on various substrates.
Polymerisation products of at least one perfluoroalkylalkyl ester of the formula
Abstract:
The present invention provides new perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid esters of the formula WHEREIN Rf is perfluoroalkyl with 4 to 18 carbon atoms, A represents a radical forming with the -NCO-N-group ethylene urea, hydantoin or isocyanurate radicals, m is a whole number from 1 to 3, q is 1 or 2 and x is 0, 1 or 2, with x being 0 or 1 if m is 1. The new compounds are useful for producing oil and waterrepellent finishes on porous and non-porous finishes, such as paper, textiles or plastics.

WHEREIN Rf is a perfluoroalkyl radical with 4 to 14 carbon atoms, R is hydrogen or fluorine, R1 is an ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon radical of organic mono-, di- or tribasic acids with 3 to 6 carbon atoms, n is a whole number from 1 to 12, p is 0 or a whole number from 1 to 3, and s is a whole number from 1 to 3, is provided. The esters are obtained by reacting perfluoroalkylalkyl iodide of the formula
with oleum and subsequently, without isolation of the intermediate with an organic carboxylic acid of the formula R1(COOH)s. The reaction products constitute valuable finishing agents for rendering materials, for example textiles, water and oil repellant.
Abstract:
Homo- and Copolymers of monomeric perfluoralkylalkylmonocarboxylic acid esters are provided which esters are derived from acyclic aliphatic epoxides. These esters contain at least one perfluoroalkyl radical with 4 to 14 carbon atoms which is bonded over an alkylene group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms to a carboxyl group, which in turn is bonded in an esterlike manner to an acyclic radical. This radical contains in the 2-position to the ester bridge an optionally etherified or esterified hydroxyl group; said radical is bonded via an ester, ether or carbamate bridge to an alkenyl group with 2 to 3 carbon atoms which is optionally linked via a second ester, ether or carbamate bridge to an acyclic radical which in turn may be bonded via an ester bridge and an alkylene group to a perfluoroalkyl radical. The homo- and copolymers with other polymerisable products are used to achieve oleophobic furnishes on porous or non-porous substrates, especially on fibrous materials, such as textiles and papers.
