Abstract:
A system for providing traffic information to a plurality of mobile users connected to a network. The system comprises a plurality of traffic monitors, each comprising at least a traffic detector and a transmitter, the traffic detector generating a signal in response to vehicular traffic and the transmitter transmitting the signal. A receiver receives the signals from the traffic monitors. A computer system is connected to the receiver and is further connected to the network. The computer system in response to a request signal received from one of the users transmits in response thereto information representative of the signals transmitted by the traffic monitoring units. Alternative systems for gathering traffic information are disclosed.

Abstract:
A recoil-reducing weapon may include a housing and a receiver translatably disposed in the housing. A barrel may have one end fixed to the receiver and be translatable with respect to the housing. A spring stop may be fixed to the barrel forward of the housing and a spring may be disposed between the spring stop and a front of the housing. An operating group with a gear rack may be translatably disposed in the receiver. A longitudinal member may have one end fixed to the operating group. A counter-mass may have a second gear rack and an opening therein for receiving the longitudinal member. A second spring may be disposed around the longitudinal member. One end of the second spring may bear against the operating group and another end of the second spring may bear against the counter-mass. A pinion gear may be rotatably fixed to the receiver and operable to mesh with the gear rack and the second gear rack.
Abstract:
A context based navigation component for navigating from a first page to a second page within a browser application, the context based navigation component comprising: a call back function for receiving an instruction to navigate to a second page from an action button operating within the browsing application; a state management component for determining the attributes of the first page and in response to the determined attributes identifying which second page to navigate to; and a generation component for generating an address of the determined second page and assigning the generated address to the action button.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method is provided for performing detailed mine detection over variable terrain. An articulated robotic scanner comprises an articulated arm mounted to any vehicle such as a robot. One or more mine detectors mounted at the end of the arm. The arm operates autonomously to repetitively sweep the mine detector in ever forward advancing side-to-side arcs over the terrain. The vehicle can operate autonomously or be tele-operated. The position of the mine detector is monitored and known with respect to a known coordinate system. Sensors measure their position relative to the ground and relative to known co-ordinates of the mine detector. A controller determines the relative position of the ground and the mine detector and dynamically adjusts the mine detector's position to maintain a constant separation over variable terrain without ever contacting the ground or objects thereon.
