Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for processing medical data from a clinical software application. Medical image data is processed by a clinical software application and the processed data is then mapped to a proposed report tree. A plurality of tagged nodes are generated in the proposed report tree by tagging data nodes within the processed medical data with a corresponding semantic tag. The proposed report tree is displayed through a viewer application and user input approving or rejecting the proposed report tree is received through the viewer application. A final report tree is generated based on the received user input and stored in an electronic data management system.

A current study of medical images can be associated with the order data. Relevancy matching rules are applied to medical image data to identify clinical software applications that are relevant for processing of the medical images. The relevancy matching rules include an order data rule that is applied to the order data associated with the medical image in order to provide additional context regarding the clinical reason for the medical images.
