Abstract: Disclosed in the present disclosure are a display device and a display apparatus. The display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate opposite to the first substrate, a light-emitting pixel array between the first substrate and the second substrate, a reflective plate at a backlight side of the light-emitting pixel array, and a polarization conversion structure and a polarization filtering structure which are successively arranged at a light emission side of the light-emitting pixel array; the polarization filtering structure is for filtering light emitted from the light-emitting pixel array side to the polarization filtering structure, so that target polarized light is transmitted, and non-target deflected light is reflected back; and the polarization conversion structure is for converting transmitted circularly polarized light into linearly polarized light, or converting transmitted linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light.

Abstract: A variable diaphragm and a control method thereof are provided. The variable diaphragm includes: a first substrate and a second substrate opposite to each other; a light detector on a side of the first substrate distal to the second substrate, and configured to detect an intensity of incident light and generate a first signal; an electrowetting microfluid medium layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, and including a transparent fluid medium and an opaque fluid medium immiscible with the transparent fluid medium, wherein an aperture of the variable diaphragm is formed by the transparent fluid medium, and one of the transparent fluid medium and the opaque fluid medium is a conductive medium; and a driving electrode between the first substrate and the second substrate, and configured to receive a driving voltage corresponding to the first signal and for driving the electrowetting microfluid medium layer, so as to change an area in a direction parallel to the first substrate or the second substrate of a portion of one substrate covered by the opaque fluid medium, the one substrate being one of the first substrate and the second substrate that has a larger contact area with the opaque fluid medium, thereby changing a diameter of the aperture.

The display device can regulate an amount of the light output from the waveguide grating by controlling changes of the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer so as to implement gray scale display.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a display apparatus and a displaying method. The display apparatus includes an optical device, a laser source at a light incident side of the optical device, a driving circuit coupled to the optical device, and a holographic image data storing device coupled to the driving circuit. The optical device includes a plurality of mutually independent optical units, the optical units are capable of refracting incident linearly polarized laser light, refractive indexes of the optical units are adjustable, and the refractive indexes of adjacent optical units are changed according to a sinusoidal curve. The driving circuit is to obtain image data of the to-be-displayed holographic image from the holographic image data storing device, and adjust the refractive index of each optical unit according to the image data. The laser source is to emit laser beams corresponding to a to-be-displayed holographic image.

Abstract: The embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a liquid crystal grating, a display device, and methods for controlling thereof. The liquid crystal grating comprises a first substrate; a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate; an electrode layer disposed on the first substrate or the second substrate, wherein the electrode layer comprises at least two sets of electrodes arranged periodically, and each set of electrodes of the two sets of electrodes comprises two sub-electrodes arranged parallel to each other; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; and a control unit configured to make the liquid crystal grating be operated in a transparent mode or a grating mode; when the liquid crystal grating is operated in the transparent mode, there is no voltage difference between two sub-electrodes of each set of electrodes, and between two adjacent sub-electrodes of different sets; and when the liquid crystal grating is operated in the grating mode, there is a voltage difference between two sub-electrodes of each set of electrodes, and there is no voltage difference between two adjacent sub-electrodes of different sets. The embodiments of the present disclosure can increase the viewing angle of display device, and cancel the zero-order diffraction of light of different wavelengths.
