Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a catalyst comprising an intermetallic compound comprising following steps: (a) Dissolving a metal selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, Ca, Sr, Ba, Eu and Yb in liquid ammonia, (b) Adding nanoparticles comprising a metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au and Ru or a halide of at least one of these metals and an inorganic salt to the solution obtained in step (a), (c) Removing the liquid ammonia, (d) Annealing the mixture of step (c) at a temperature in the range between 200° C. and the melting temperature of the intermetallic compound wherein the intermetallic compound is formed, (e) Washing the intermetallic compound achieved in step (d). The invention further relates to a catalyst obtained by the process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing core-shell particles having a polymer core and a continuous silica shell. The in situ formed core-shell architecture suppresses film formation of the polymer and simplifies the subsequent drying process. The finally obtained free flowing polymer powder exhibits improved redispersibility and storage stability and imparts building material compositions improved viscosity and faster skin-forming time.

The invention further relates to a catalyst obtained by the process.

Abstract: The present invention relates to coated polymer particles comprising a water-swellable polymer core and an essentially continuous coating encapsulating the core. The coating comprises an oxide, hydroxide or oxide hydrate of silicon, aluminum, zirconium, tin or titanium. The polymer particles do not show instantaneous swelling, when contacted with water or a water-containing liquid, but show delayed water absorption after an appropriate period of time. The coated polymer particles may be used in oil fields, in mining, for construction chemical compositions or as carrier for active substances. The coated polymer particles are prepared by a suspension coating process or a fluidized bed coating process.
