Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to select display settings for a display device. Device capabilities may be read from a display device and a determination made whether the device capabilities support other display formats than are read from the display, for example, a high dynamic range (HDR) format or a high resolution format. When the device capabilities do not include an format supported by a video source, video may be driven from the video source to the display device in the format and, if confirmation is received that the display device displays the driven video, settings may be stored for the display device identifying the format as a one supported by the display device. Additionally, interconnect may be tested by estimating noise levels generated by the interconnect to a network connection and/or by estimating network throughput both when video is driven over the interconnect and when it is not. Display formats may be selected for the device based on a maximum data rate of a network connection that can be maintained while the interconnect carries video.

Abstract: A first device is used to execute a first application for conducting a video call. The first application displays a video stream of the video call on a display screen of the first device using voice data and video data captured by the first device. When a first trigger condition is detected, either by the operating system of the first device or by the operating system of the first application, the first device transfers the display of the video stream of the video call to a second device. Although the video stream is being displayed on the second device, the first application continues to use the first device to capture the voice data and the video data for the video call. At the same time, the first device is displaying the video stream on the second device, the first device is also displaying application data corresponding to a second application.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for automated detection and notification of interconnect errors or failure. An interconnect is tested via passive or active means. Error data associated with data transferred via the interconnect is measured and analyzed to generate error statistics. Error statistics are then used to determine an error rate of the interconnect and an alert is generated if the error rate exceeds a threshold. Alerts are displayed to users for troubleshooting and/or for indication that the interconnect should be replaced.
