Abstract: An optoelectronic device includes a laser diode having a cathode terminal and an anode terminal, which is connected to a driving voltage. A driver is coupled to drive current pulses through the laser diode from the anode terminal to the cathode terminal. A discharge switch has a first switch terminal connected to the cathode terminal and a second switch terminal connected to a discharge voltage, which is equal to or greater than the driving voltage, and is configured, when closed, to raise the cathode terminal to the discharge voltage. A switch control circuit has an input connected to the cathode terminal and an output connected to close the discharge switch in response to the current pulses occurring at the input.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a nasal breathing monitoring system with a sensor (e.g., an ultrasonic transducer or microphone) to be placed on or near the outside of the user's nose and record a signal corresponding to the user's nasal breathing. The recorded breathing signal may be digitized and analyzed, e.g., based on its spectral characteristics, in order to determine one or more breathing characteristics of the user's breathing. The system may then adjust some system parameter based on the determined one or more breathing characteristics, e.g., a signal gain, a filter, feedback to the user, etc. The system may also use the one or more breathing characteristics to: recognize a particular user's identity, present a breathing exercise to a user, tailor particular user feedback, or compare the user's breathing characteristics to historical breathing data for the user and/or historical breathing data from other users obtained via an anonymized database.

Abstract: An optoelectronic device includes a driver die including drive circuits and first bond pads on a front surface of the driver die. An emitter die is mounted on the front surface of the driver die and includes one or more vertical emitters and second bond pads connected to the vertical emitters. An encapsulation layer contains the emitter die and has an inner surface adjacent to the front surface of the driver die. Conductive vias extend through the encapsulation layer and have inner ends connected to the first bond pads and outer ends at an outer surface of the encapsulation layer. A redistribution layer is disposed over the outer surface of the encapsulation layer and includes conductive traces, each of which is connected to at least one terminal selected from a group of terminals consisting of the second bond pads and the outer ends of the conductive vias.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA), an input interface and input masking circuitry. The TIA is configured to convert input current pulses into output voltage pulses. The input interface is configured to receive a control signal indicative of one or more time intervals. The input masking circuitry is configured to prevent the input current pulses from saturating the TIA during the one or more time intervals indicated by the control signal.

Abstract: A laser system includes a master oscillator, which emits a train of optical seed pulses with variable intervals between the pulses. An optical power amplifier includes an optical gain medium, which receives and amplifies the optical seed pulses from the master oscillator, and a pump, which applies pump radiation to the optical gain medium. A pulse generator applies a control input to the master oscillator, which causes the intervals between the optical seed pulses to vary by at least 50% at a rate of change that is greater than a response frequency of the optical gain medium. A control unit drives the pump responsively to predicted intervals between the optical seed pulses, at a variable pump power selected so that the pulse amplitudes of the output pulses vary by no more than 20% irrespective of the varying intervals between the optical seed pulses.

Abstract: An optoelectronic device includes a laser diode, a driver and a reverse-bias circuit. The laser diode has a first terminal and a second terminal. The driver is coupled to drive current pulses through the laser diode between the first and second terminals. The reverse-bias circuit is configured to reverse-bias the laser diode during time intervals derived from the current pulses.
