Abstract: Battery assemblies, as well as methods and processes for forming same. A battery assembly can include a first tab electrically connected to a first terminal of a battery and a second tab electrically connected to a second terminal of the battery. A battery assembly can also include a first conductive path (aka first section) having a first end, and a second conductive path (aka second section) having a second end. Another end of the first conductive path can be coupled an electronic device, such as an electric circuit. Another end of the second conductive path can be coupled to the electronic device as well. A space separates the first and second ends; the space formed by removing at least one portion of a U-shaped conductive path. The first conductive path and the first battery tab are connected. The second conductive path and the second battery tab are also connected.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure involve various battery packs. In general, the battery pack includes a battery cell and an enclosure. The enclosure includes a first portion and a plurality of walls that extend perpendicularly from the first portion. The enclosure includes a second portion connected to the plurality of walls to form a body enclosing the battery cell. The first portion, the second portion, and the plurality of walls are a first material comprising stainless steel. The enclosure includes a layer of a second material covering at least a portion of at least one of the first portion, the second portion, and one of the plurality of walls. The second material comprises aluminum, an aluminum alloy, copper, a copper alloy, graphite, graphene, or a combination thereof and has a greater thermal conductivity than the first material.

Abstract: Electrical feedthroughs are presented for redistributing thermally-induced stresses that result from welding. In some embodiments, an electrical feedthrough includes a tubular conduit having a flange at one end. The flange includes a first surface disposed opposite a second surface. The first surface includes at least one of a protrusion and a notch. The electrical feedthrough also includes an electrically-conductive terminal disposed through the tubular conduit. An electrically-insulating material is disposed between the tubular conduit and the electrically-conductive terminal and forms a seal therebetween. The protrusion and the notch are configured individually or as a combination to reduce thermally-induced stresses within the electrically-insulating material that result from welding the flange. Methods for welding such electrical feedthroughs to a wall, such as a wall of a battery housing, are also presented.
