Abstract:
Electrowetting apparatus including at least one compound selected from the group consisting of: wherein each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is independently an alkyl group. In examples a fluid includes a dye compound selected from:
Abstract:
An electrowetting display device including an electrowetting element with a first support plate, a second support plate, a first fluid and a second fluid immiscible with the first fluid. A voltage may be applied between a first electrode and a second electrode. At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode comprises a semiconducting material.
Abstract:
An electrowetting display device includes a first support plate and a second support plate. A first fluid and a second fluid that is immiscible with the first fluid are between the first support plate and the second support plate. A plurality of pixel walls having concave side surfaces are formed on the first support plate to define a plurality of electrowetting pixels. A pixel electrode is disposed on the first support plate for applying a voltage within each electrowetting pixel to cause relative displacement of the first fluid and the second fluid.
Abstract:
An electrowetting element includes a support plate with a layer with a first surface for adjoinment by a fluid. The layer is formed at least partly of a material having a backbone which is substantially apolar and at least one chain pendant from the backbone and terminating with a substantially polar group.

Abstract:
A method of controlling an electrowetting display device with display elements arranged in a matrix with n rows. In examples each display element is addressable with a voltage pulse having a pulse duration longer than Tf/n, where Tf is a pre-determined frame period for addressing the n rows. In examples the pulse duration may be longer than ReCe, with Re being an electrical resistance of an electrically conductive fluid of a display element and Ce being an electrical capacitance of a capacitor of the display element.
