摘要: A system and a bone fixation plate for preventing a fastener from rotating so as to prevent the fastener from backing out is provided. The system includes a plate having an opening. A retention member having an arm extending into the opening is configured to engage the head of the fastener so as to prevent the fastener from rotating after the fastener is seated within a vertebral body or implant. In one embodiment, the retention member engages a top surface of the head of the fastener. In another embodiment, the retention member engages a side wall of the head of the fastener.

摘要: Systems and methods for implanting a spinal implant between two vertebral bodies are provided. The spinal implant may include a main body adapted to rest between and adjacent to the two vertebral bodies, the main body having a cavity therein adapted to hold a filler and a cap adapted to connect to the main body where the cap is connectable after the main body has been inserted between the vertebral bodies and after the filler has been inserted into the cavity of the main body. The cap is securable to the main body by means of a securement member providing for a permanent connection between the main body and the cap.

摘要: A retractor blade and a retractor blade kit are provided. The retractor blade has a proximal end, a distal end, and a toe-out mechanism between the proximal end and the distal end. The toe-out mechanism, which is part of the blade, moves the distal end from an insert position to a toe-out position when activated. The retractor blade kit has a first blade with a first length and a second blade with a second length that is less than the first length. The first blade and the second blade have about the same stiffness such that each blade deflects about the same amount when a distal end of each blade is subjected to the same force.

摘要: A system for spinal fusion includes a spacer, a plate, an attachment member, and a first temporary fixation screw. The spacer includes a first coupling aperture having a first thread with a thread pitch that is greater than or equal to one third of a depth of the first coupling aperture. The plate includes a first attachment aperture and second coupling aperture. The attachment member includes a mating thread that mates with the first thread. The attachment member is configured to couple the spacer and the plate when inserted through the second coupling aperture and rotated to engage the first thread of the first coupling aperture. The first temporary fixation screw is configured to attach the plate to a first vertebra when inserted through the first attachment aperture and driven into the first vertebra.
