Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable User Equipment (UE) to efficiently and reliably report supported band combinations to a wireless network. An enhanced NodeB (eNB) may determine eNB-supported bands combinations for carrier aggregation scenarios, create a simplified representation of the eNB-supported bands combinations (e.g., using a highest order band combination, groups of band combinations, etc.), and communicate the eNB-supported bands combinations to the UE. The UE may determine UE-supported band combinations that are among the eNB-supported bands combinations, create a simplified representation of the UE-supported band combinations, and communicate the eNB-supported bands combinations to the eNB. The eNB may use the UE-supported band combinations to allocate appropriate carriers to the UE for carrier aggregation.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing UE capability are described. A capability ID is associated with the same Radio Capability information for multiple UEs. If the capability ID is validated at a network node, the UE provides the capability ID to a RAN node, which obtains the capability information from the network node after providing the received capability ID to the RAN node. The capability ID is received in an RRC Setup Complete, Security Mode Complete or Reconfiguration Complete message. The network node, if the Radio Capability information is not available, requests and receives the Radio Capability information and associates it with the capability ID, and marks that the capability ID as not validated until a threshold number of the UEs have provided the same Radio Capability information. The capability ID is based on a UE device type, manufacturer and software version.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a system and method of operating a user equipment (UE) to make the new radio (NR) carrier aggregation more effective. The system and method can include at least: receiving a release message confirming release of the UE from a base station, the release message including Long Term Evolution radio access technology (RAT) frequencies and New Radio (NR) RAT frequencies; measuring during an IDLE state, the LTE RAT frequencies and the NR RAT frequencies; transmitting a resume request message to the base station, the resume request message including an indication of a measurement report available from the UE, the measurement report including frequency measurements for the LTE RAT frequencies and the NR RAT frequencies; and after a security setup with the base station, transmitting a resume complete message to the base station, the resume complete message including the measurement report with the LTE RAT frequency measurements and NR RAT frequency measurements.

Abstract: An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) comprises one or more baseband processors to encode a unique UE identifier to be transmitted to an Access and Mobility Function (AMF) of a Fifth Generation (5G) network, wherein the unique identifier identifies UE capabilities to be stored in a UE capabilities database. An apparatus of Access and Mobility Function (AMF) of a Fifth Generation (5G) network comprises one or more processors to receive a user equipment (UE) Capabilities update from a remote server to update a UE capability database that stores UE capability information corresponding to one or more UEs identified with a unique identifier, and to process the UE Capabilities update via one or more Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
