Abstract:
A thermal management system includes a housing having an interior space; a heat-generating component disposed within the interior space; and a working fluid disposed within the interior space such that the heat-generating component contacts a liquid phase of the working fluid; and an adsorber assembly disposed within the interior space. The adsorber assembly is in fluid communication with the interior space and an environment external to the thermal management system. The adsorber assembly is configured to: (i) receive a fluid stream from the interior space, the fluid stream including a vapor phase of the working fluid and a non-condensable gas; (ii) at least partially separate the working fluid from the fluid stream and, then, vent the fluid stream to the environment external to the fluid space; and (iii) return the separated working fluid to the interior space.
Abstract:
A thermal management system includes a housing having an interior space; a heat-generating component disposed within the interior space; and a working fluid comprising a halogenated material disposed within the interior space such that the heat-generating component contacts a liquid phase of the working fluid. The system further includes a bellows assembly disposed with the interior space, the bellows assembly comprising a first bellows and a second bellows. The first bellows is in fluid communication with the interior space and the second bellows is in fluid communication with an environment external to the housing. The first and second bellows are mechanically coupled such that expansion of the first bellows causes contraction of the second bellows, and contraction of the first bellows causes expansion of the second bellows.
Abstract:
Described herein is fluorinated dye comprising: a fluorescing coumarin-derived moiety connected to an oligomer of hexafluoropropylene oxide via a non-fluorinated divalent linking group. Such fluorinated dyes are soluble in fluorinated fluids and may be used to detect leaks in various systems such as refrigerant, air conditioning and/or heat transfer systems.

A thermal management system includes a housing having an interior space; a heat-generating component disposed within the interior space; a working fluid disposed within the interior space such that the heat-generating component contacts a liquid phase of the working fluid; and a sensing mechanism configured to detect the presence of one or more organic contaminants in the working fluid at concentrations of 100 ppm or less.
Abstract:
An immersion cooling system includes a housing having an interior space; a heat-generating component disposed within the interior space; and a working fluid liquid disposed within the interior space such that the heat-generating component is in contact with a liquid phase of the working fluid. The immersion system further includes a device configured to selectively remove a fluid from within the housing. The working fluid includes a halogenated material.
Abstract:
An optical system including first and second optical elements for guiding light therein. For each optical element, the propagating light enters or exits the optical element through a coupling surface of the optical element. The coupling surfaces of the optical elements face, and align with, each other so that light propagating in one of the optical elements exits the optical element through the coupling surface of the optical element and enters the other optical element through the coupling surface of the other optical element. The coupling surfaces are separated from each other and define a region therebetween. The region is filled with a coolant, the coolant substantially surrounding at least one of the first and second optical elements.
Abstract:
A process and an apparatus for converting thermal energy into mechanical energy in a Rankine cycle is provided. The process and apparatus include a working fluid that comprises a fluorinated oxirane. The fluorinated oxirane can contain substantially no hydrogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms and can have from about 4 to about 9 carbon atoms. The process can drive a turbine and, in some embodiments, generate electricity.
