Abstract: An article comprising at least one microneedle is provided. The article can comprises a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side comprises a central cavity portion and a platform portion, with at least one microneedle extending therefrom, wherein the platform portion is not coplanar with the central cavity portion. The platform portion substantially surrounds the central cavity portion. The at least one microneedle comprises a body comprising an outer surface; a base segment having a base and a first shape; a tip segment having a tip and a second shape, wherein the second shape is distinct from the first shape; a transition plane that delineates the base segment and the tip segment; and a central axis. Methods of using the article are also provided.

Each microneedle has a body that includes an outer surface 163; a base segment 166 having a base 162 and a first shape; a tip segment 168 having a tip 164 and a second shape, wherein the second shape is distinct from the first shape; a transition plane 167 that delineates the base segment and the tip segment; and a central axis 180. An angle, defined by an intersection of the central axis of at least one microneedle and a shortest line extending from the first edge and through the transition plane of the at least one microneedle, is less than about 50°.

Abstract: In some examples, a system (1900) includes a hearing protector (1920); at least one position sensor; at least one sound monitoring sensor; at least one computing device configured to: receive, from the at least one sound monitoring sensor and over a time duration, indications of sound levels to which a worker is exposed; determine, from the at least one position sensor and during the time duration, that the hearing protector is not positioned at one or more ears of the worker to attenuate the sound levels; and generate, in response to the determination that at least one of the sound levels satisfies an exposure threshold during the time duration and the hearing protector is not positioned at one or more ears of the worker to attenuate the sound levels, an indication for output.

The blower/filtration unit also includes a first pressure sensor positioned at an inlet of the blower/filtration unit. The blower/filtration unit also includes a second pressure sensor positioned at an outlet of the blower/filtration unit. The blower/filtration unit also includes a motor controller that executes the motor control algorithm. The motor control algorithm determines a motor speed required to maintain an airflow rate based on signals from the first and second pressure sensors.

Abstract: A pleated filter element comprising a pleated filter media comprising a plurality of oppositely-facing pleats with a pleat direction and with a plurality of upstream and downstream pleat tips and pleat valleys, wherein the pleated filter media comprises two corrugated edges and two noncorrugated edges. The first (second) corrugated edge of the pleated filter media comprises an edge dam of hardened adhesive that occupies the upstream and downstream pleat valleys at a location laterally inwardly proximate the first (second) corrugated edge and that extends along an entire longitudinal extent of the pleated filter media. The pleated filter media is a multilayer media comprising an organic polymeric nonwoven web, that exhibits a Percent Penetration of less than 5, laminated with a fiberglass prefilter layer that is disposed upstream of the primary filtration layer and that exhibits a Percent Penetration of greater than about 70.
