A linear polyfluoro compound having at least two alkenyl groups as a base component is blended with a linear polyfluoro compound having one alkenyl group and a hydrosilyl-bearing linear polysiloxane having fluoroalkyl substituents in side chains and at ends thereof. With a platinum catalyst added, there is obtained a curable composition having improved storage stability which will quickly cure into satisfactory gel products.

Hexafluoropropylene oxide (HFPO) compounds, including polymers, expressed by the general chemical formula (1) below: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a single bond, an alkylene group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or said alkylene group in which a part of, or all of, the hydrogen atoms are substituted by fluorine atoms, Rf is a fluorine atom, a perfluoroalkyl group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or a perfluoroalkyl ether group, and n is 0 or an integer of at least 1. A manufacturing method for the HFPO compounds which is characterized by the reaction between hexafluoropropylene oxide and a vinyl group containing compound, expressed by the general chemical formula (2) below: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 and Rf are same as above. The compounds have utility as important intermediate raw materials for the production of novel functional silicone compounds having HFPO polymer units.

The organopolysiloxane composition, e.g. silicone fluid, of the invention is imparted with high heat resistance by admixing with a specific heat-resistance improver which is prepared by a heat treatment of a mixture composed of (a) 100 parts by weight of an organopolysiloxane having a specified viscosity, (b) a carboxylate of cerium such as 2-ethylhexoate in an amount of 0.05 to 5 parts by weight as cerium and (c) an alkoxide compound of titanium or zirconium such as tetrabutyl titanate in an amount to give 0.1 to 5 times by weight of the titanium or zirconium element based on the cerium content in the component (b) at a temperature of, for example, 150.degree. to 310.degree. C. for 30 minutes to 10 hours.

Curable fluoropolyether rubber composition: This composition comprises (A) a straight chain fluoropolyether compound having at least two alkenyl groups in its molecule and having a divalent perfluoropolyether structure in its backbone chain, (B) a polytetrafluoroethylene, (C) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least two hydrogen atoms bonded to silicon atoms in its molecule, and (D) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst. The composition is provided in the form of a paste capable of forming into optional shapes, and its cured product is well-balanced in and is excellent in properties such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, releasability, lubricating qualities, water repellency, oil repellency and weatherability.

A water-absorptive soft contact lens comprising a polymer prepared by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising (A) a fluorine-containing styrene derivative represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen atom or methyl group, m is an integer of 1 to 3 and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 7, and (B) N, N-dimethyl(meth)acrylamide. The water-absorptive soft contact lens has excellent oxygen permeability, high mechanical strength and excellent flexibility independent of water content.

A water-absorptive soft contact lens comprising a polymer prepared by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising, as main components, (A) 25 to 75% by weight of a (meth)acrylamide monomer, (B) 20 to 70% by weight of a fluoroalkyl (silicon-containing alkyl) fumarate, and (C) 0.01 to 10% by weight of a crosslinkable monomer. The water-absorptive soft contact lens has excellent oxygen permeability and high mechanical strength independent of water content, and is excellent in transparency and shape stability.

The crosslinkable copolymer comprised therein is a polymer having, in a molecule, at least two monomeric units each having a vinyl-containing organosilicon pendant group represented by the general formula (Vi.sub.m R.sup.1.sub.n SiO).sub.a Vi.sub.b R.sup.2.sub.c Si--, in which Vi is a vinyl group, R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a group selected from the class consisting of monovalent hydrocarbon groups free from aliphatic unsaturation, hydroxy group and hydrolyzable groups excepting halogen atoms, R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group, m is 1, 2 or 3, n is zero, 1 or 2, a is 1, 2 or 3, b is zero, 1 or 2 and c is zero, 1 or 2 with the proviso that a+b=1, 2 or 3 and a+b+c=3. Such a copolymer can be prepared by the copolymerization of a first ordinary ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a second monomer having, simultaneously in a molecule, an ethylenically unsaturated linkage copolymerizable with the first monomer and the vinyl-containing organosilicon group of the above given formula.
