Abstract:
The invention relates to sense oligonucleotide having a sequence complementary to a single-stranded RNA (antisense transcript) having a sequence complementary to mRNA of iNOS gene in order to control expression of iNOS (inducible nitric oxide synthase). The sense oligonucleotide of the present invention can control expression of iNOS and is useful for biological defense and treatment and prevention of diseases related to excessive production of NO, such as cancerogenesis, inflammatory disease, endotoxin shock by bacterial infection and the like.
Abstract:
Provided is an adiponectin production-promoting agent comprising Botanbouhu as an active component. Such an adiponectin production-promoting agent is able to be used for prevention or treatment of hypoadiponectinemia. Further provided are a pharmaceutical composition, food and drink, and feed comprising such an adiponectin production-promoting agent.
Abstract:
A dual center wheel (38), provided with a plurality of dual center wheels (36) for display of times in different time zones, driven on a hands wheel for displaying the current time, and a dual adjustment member (49) adjusted by an external adjustment member (9), is formed from a gear (38a) and a pair of planetary wheels (44, 45) supported on the gear (38a). The dual center wheel (38) is also provided with a dual wheel (43), for which the rotation is regulated by means of a jumper spring, which engages one of the planetary wheels (44), and with a dual hour wheel (46) which engages the other planetary wheel (45) rotating on the same shaft as the dual wheel (43). The dual hour wheel ( 46 ), of which rotanional speed is reduced as a result of the rotation of the dual center wheel (38), makes one turn of an integer fraction of a rotation for a one pitch rotation of the dual wheel ( 43 ).
Abstract:
A wristwatch movement has a back cover formed with a battery replacement hole, and a base plate formed with a battery compartment in a substantially axial alignment with the battery replacement hole. An actuating lever has one end selectively engageable with a setting lever engaging with a winding stem extending through a radial bore of the base plate, and another end formed with a handling portion extending toward the battery compartment such that the handling portion can be manipulated through the battery replacement hole to cause the one end of the setting lever to disengage from the winding stem, to allow the winding stem to be pulled out of the radial bore.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of intracellularly controlling amounts of gene products, which can increase an amount of gene product intracellularly, comprising a step of introducing into the cell a substance having a sequence complementary to the base sequence of mRNA corresponding to the gene product, its precursor or another substance which can have equivalent action in the cell.
Abstract:
An electronic timepiece is formed of a power generating device for generating power, a control device for driving on receipt of a power supply from the power generating device, a display device for displaying a time by an operation of the control device, a detecting device for detecting a state of the power generating device, and a deciding device for deciding whether or not the power generating device generates power based on a detection signal sent from the detecting device. The control device controls such that a power generating state of the power generating device is displayed on the display device based on a decision of the deciding device. It is possible to reduce power consumption by stopping hands if required.
Abstract:
An electronic watch has a mechanical analog time-display with hour, minute and second hands. The watch has gear trains disposed in a portion adjacent the axis of the minute hand, and two motors disposed adjacent the gear train for driving the minute hand, hour hand and second hand. A stem is axially shiftably provided adjacent the gear train, and a lever assembly such as a setting lever, clutch lever and sliding clutch wheel is disposed adjacent the stem. A battery is disposed between the lever assembly and one of the motors, and a circuit chip is disposed between the motors.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus processes data representing measured values which are liable to show a poor consistency. Measured values are formed in groups; an average value and a discreteness value of a first group of measured values are calculated; an average value is presented as a most appropriate value to a display only when the discreteness value is below a reference value; otherwise, an average value and a discreteness value of the first and additional groups of measured values are calculated, and the recalculation is continued until the discreteness value has come to be below a reference value which decreases with the number of additional groups of measured values of which an average value and a discreteness value are calculated. The average value is presented as a most appropriate value to a display when the discreteness value is below the reference value.
Abstract:
A correction system for a hands display type of electronic timepiece which can display a plurality of types of time information such as an alarm time and the current time by a single set of hands, with changeover between display of the different types of information being performed by rapid rotation of the hands, with the system being characterized in that means are provided for inhibiting any input of correction signals by external switch actuations while such changeover is in progress. Errors resulting from accidental switch actuations during display changeover are thereby effectively eliminated.
