    摘要: An imaging apparatus for imaging a sample (7) comprises an array of electronically addressable pixels (6) wherein each pixel is arranged to support a surface plasmon resonance therein to generate an evanescent electromagnetic field. This field extends transversely from the pixel so as to be salient from the array at a first side of the array for illuminating the sample at said first side. A light source (15) is arranged to illuminate the array with excitation light therewith to generate said surface plasmon resonance. An optical detector (12A, 12B, 12C) is arranged at a second side of the array which is opposite to said first side of the array for detecting optical radiation returned from the array in response to illumination of the array by said excitation light. A processing unit (4) is arranged to associate the detected optical radiation with the address of the pixel or pixels within the array at which the surface plasmon resonance was generated.

    摘要: The present invention is concerned with a fibre membrane for use in a Membrane Supported Biofilm Reactor (MSBR) or the like, the fibre membrane comprising a substantially cylindrical sidewall defining an internal lumen from which gas can permeate through the sidewall, and characterised in that at least a part of an outer surface of the fibre membrane is engineered to define at least one biofilm retaining region which acts to retain a quantity of biofilm therein, in particular when the fibre membrane is subjected to a high sheer biofilm control event, such as experienced during a reactor cleaning cycle, for removing excess biofilm in order to prevent clogging of the reactor.

    摘要: A delivery system comprising hydrogen peroxide or a hydrogen peroxide generator system, for use in a method for the treatment or prevention of inflammatory bowel disease in a mammal, is described. The method comprises a step of orally administering to the mammal the delivery system, wherein the delivery system is formulated for oral delivery and release of the hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide generator system in-situ at a target location in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract. Also described is an oral dosage delivery system comprising hydrogen peroxide or a hydrogen peroxide generator system, in which the delivery system is configured for oral administration to a mammal and release of the hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide generator system at a target location within the mammalian gastrointestinal tract thereby effecting a localised increase in hydrogen peroxide levels at the target location in the mammalian gut or airways.
