    摘要： Cellular urethane polymers essentially free of the strong, objectionable amine odor characteristic of N-ethylmorpholine, are provided by effecting the polyurethane forming reaction in the presence of beta-tert-amino nitriles. In view of their low residual odor and effectiveness in the catalysis of the waterisocyanate reaction, the beta-amino nitriles either alone or in combination with other tertiary amines, are used with particular advantage as direct replacements for N-ethyl-morpholine in the manufacture of water-blown flexible polyurethanes, both molded and free-rise, including high-resilience foam as well as foams stabilized with either organosilicone or silicon-free organic surfactants. Especially effective for the formation of flexible polyester foam stabilized with either type of surfactant are blends of the beta-amino nitrile catalyst such as, in particular, 3-(N,N-dimethylamino)propionitrile, with dimethylethanolamine or a bis(2-(N,N-dimethylamino)alkyl)-ether.

    摘要： Reinforcing fibers are precisely aligned and distributed in a metal matrix by (a) forming a corrugated sheet of the metal, filling the valleys with reinforcing fibers, sandwiching the sheet between two flat sheets of the same metal and subjecting the assembly to pressure and elevated temperatures until the layers of metal matrix become integrally bonded, or (b) placing between two sheets of metal matrix in an alternate or periodic but parallel fashion fibers or rods of both the reinforcing metal and the metal matrix and subjecting the assembly to pressure and elevated temperatures until the metal matrix becomes integrally bonded. Alternatively, in both instances the assembly can be rolled into a cylinder with the reinforcing fibers parallel to the axis of the cylinder and the resulting assembly extruded into a billet or compacted at elevated temperatures.

    摘要： Integrally formed multicell containers are prepared in an essentially one step, low pressure process by expanding the cross-section of a sheet of thermoformable material with the attendant formation of a plurality of voids or cells having a partial vacuum or reduced pressure within the cross-section of such expanded sheet while venting the voids during the expansion of the cross-section so as to equilibrate the level of pressure within the voids with the level of pressure without the expanded sheet of thermoformable material so as to thereby regulate the uniformity and integrity of the resulting cross-sectional geometry of the expanded sheet, which is a multicell container.
