    摘要: A liquid-crystal display device makes it possible to attach an optical element to a liquid-crystal display panel with high positional accuracy while avoiding or minimizing the enlargement of the picture-frame region (i.e., the non-display region) induced by the formation of markers on the panel and the increase of the fabrication cost. The panel comprises a main substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal enclosed in a gap between the main and opposite substrates, wherein a polarizer plate is attached at least to the opposite substrate. Markers for attaching an optical element to the panel are formed at positions that overlap with the polarizer plate in a non-display region on the main or opposite substrate. Alignment direction regulators regulate the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules to a predetermined direction in the vicinities of the markers, allowing light to pass through at least the opposite substrate.

    摘要: To provide a laser cutting method that is capable of cutting the substrates high accurately with high throughput at a low cost. It is a laser cutting method for cutting a laminated substrate that is formed by laminating at least a pair of substrates. The method comprises the steps of: providing a pattern member with a characteristic of absorbing light of a wavelength that transmits each of the substrates, between each of the substrates along a cutting position of the laminated substrate; and irradiating a laser of the wavelength that transmits the substrates along the pattern member, whereby the laminated substrate is cut along the pattern member.

    摘要: A display device reduces the image quality degradations by suppressing the effect of the defective alignment regions caused by the spacers while minimizing the aperture ratio lowering, and prevents the image quality change dependent on the observation positions. The display device has a display panel and a lenticular lens. Each unit pixel of the display panel includes the sub-pixel for the left eye and the sub-pixel for the right eye. To keep the pair of substrates at a predetermined gap, spacers are arranged at predetermined positions in the gap. The spacers are stripe-shaped and extended along a direction perpendicular to the image separation axis of the lenticular lens. The spacers are equally overlapped with the sub-pixels for the left eye and those for the right eye. The spacers may be isolated for the respective unit pixels, or the first or second sub-pixels.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display panel has a drive substrate and an opposing substrate disposed parallel to each other by way of a seal member provided with a liquid crystal injection inlet. A liquid crystal layer is sealed between the two substrates. Apertures are provided in the portion formed on the periphery of the pixel area of the smoothed film that is formed on the surface of the drive substrate, and an orientation film is formed so that at least part of the peripheral edge portion is positioned inside the apertures. Thereby, the liquid crystal injection time can be reduced and the panel can be set in a narrow frame, and the wiring and peripheral drive circuits are not liable to be damaged.
