    摘要: The invention provides a lube base oil other than silicone oil having a kinematic viscosity of 12 mm2/s or below at 40° C., exhibiting, in Noack test (250° C., 1 hr), an evaporation loss of 30 mass % or below and/or a flash point of 200° C. or higher, and exhibiting an aniline point of 60° C. or higher. There is also provides a lubricating oil composition comprising the lube base oil mixed with at least one additive selected from the group consisting of an antioxidant, a viscosity index improver, a detergent dispersant, a friction reducing agent, a metal inactivator, a pour point depressant, an abrasion resisting agent, a defoamer, and an extreme-pressure additive. The lube base oil and the lubricating oil composition realize reduction of evaporation loss despite being of low viscosity and excellent compatibility with organic materials.

    摘要: The invention provides processes for the recovery of a catalyst which are to be applied to the reactions wherein boron trifluoride or a complex thereof is used as the catalyst, that is, (I) a process for the recovery of a catalyst which comprises using as the reaction solvent a solvent containing a hydrofluorocarbon compound and/or an oxygenic hydrofluorocarbon compound and, after the completion of the reaction, separating the reaction solvent from the reaction mixture; and (II) a process for the recovery of a catalyst which comprises extracting boron trifluoride or a complex thereof from the reaction mixture after the completion of the reaction by using a hydrofluorocarbon compound and/or an oxygenic hydrofluorocarbon compound as the extracting solvent. According to the processes, boron trifluoride or complexes thereof used as catalyst can be easily separated from the reaction mixtures and re-used.

    摘要: There are disclosed a process for producing an oligomer by oligomerizing a raw material comprising an unsaturated bicyclo heptane derivative and/or an unsaturated bicyclo octane derivative, which comprises the step of restricting the contents of dienes contained in the raw material to at most 1% by weight; and a process wherein the raw material is subjected to solid acid treatment simultaneously with or prior to distillation and then to oligomerization. The above process can efficiently produce the oligomer well suited for use in a traction drive fluid having a low viscosity and exhibiting excellent performance over a wide temperature range.

    摘要: Provided is a lubricating oil for continuously variable transmissions characterized by that used as a base oil are a synthetic oil I having the following properties: (a) a traction coefficient at 120° C. is 115% or more of that of 2,4-dicyclohexyl-2-methylpentane, (b) a viscosity at −40° C. is not higher than a viscosity (260 Pa·s) of 2,4-dicyclohexyl-2-methylpentane, and (c) a viscosity index is 65 or higher, and a synthetic oil II having a viscosity of 1 Pa·s or lower at −40° C. and that the above base oil has a specific property. The above lubricating oil is a lubricating oil for continuously variable transmissions which has a high traction coefficient even at high temperature and is endowed with a good low temperature fluidity and which is suited as a lubricating oil for continuously variable transmissions for automobiles.
