摘要: Buffers are separately provided for a region for non-sequential transfer and for a region for sequential transfer in each one of the disk units. A director sends a message to inform at least one of the disk units whether transfer of data the respective disk units are to make is sequential or non-sequential. When the disk unit receives a non-sequential transfer request, it uses the buffer region for non-sequential transfer to transfer data requested by the director and when it receives a sequential transfer request, it uses a plurality of buffer regions for the sequential transfer. Thus, data transfer is performed between a host device and that disk unit.

摘要: A magnetic recording apparatus having a plurality of magnetic heads (111-118) by which data is written on and read from a magnetic medium (121-123) has a timing correction unit (3) that controls a suitable timing according to a predetermined characteristic of a selected magnetic head or disk apparatus and the density of logical ONE states in the data so that the data will be written on the magnetic medium under the timing controlled by the timing correction unit. Timing correction may also be provided according to whether the head is an inner or an outer head.

摘要: Every other input pulse is extracted from an input signal containing alternate phase-advanced and phase-delayed pulses read out of a magnetic disk unit, a magnetic tape unit or the like. Output pulses in synchronism with the pulses thus extracted are produced. This extraction may be effected only during a predetermined length of time after staring application of the input pulses at the time of pull-in of a phase sync circuit. Whether phase synchronization is to be effected in accordance with advanced-phase or delayed-phase input pulses is determined from time to time as required.
