摘要: Systems and methods are described for registering and monitoring a status of a plurality of units of an in-flight entertainment system disposed within a vehicle. Using a portable computing device, each of the units can be registered with the server by reading a unique machine-readable identifier disposed on or near each unit. The identifier could be a barcode or other indicia or a NFC tag, for example. Location information about each unit can also be obtained via manual input or by reading a second identifier.

摘要: Systems and methods are described for managing wireless access points in a multi-band wireless network. The systems and methods can involve one or more wireless distribution units that are each associated with a set of wireless access points and a data collector that collects information about an environment where that wireless distribution unit is located. Based on the information collected, a control unit that is communicatively coupled with the one or more wireless distribution units can utilize a central cognitive engine to balance a load across the one or more wireless distribution units.

摘要: Systems and methods are described for controlling seat actuation and other controls using an in-flight entertainment system of an aircraft or other vehicle. The system can include an electronic control unit configured to send commands to actuate a passenger seat based on input received via a passenger controlled device. The electronic control unit or a related peripheral component is configured to receive a flight phase notification. If the flight phase notification indicates a taxi, take-off or landing phase, the electronic control unit sends a command to disable actuation of the passenger seat. Such command could also be sent if the flight phase notification is not received for a predefined time period.

摘要: Systems for determining a flight stage of an aircraft are described in which a vibration sensor and a sensor for determining a pitch of the aircraft are utilized. A server receives signals from the vibration sensor and pitch sensor, and determines the flight stage using a set of algorithms. Depending on the flight stage determined, a command signal can be generated and transmitted to cause one or more components of the aircraft to change in function or power on or off.

摘要: Systems and methods for wireless detection of a status of component within a vehicle are described that utilize a single connection or single point of connection to access the status of each component. A plurality of modules each having a wireless radio and two discrete electrical inputs can be provided, with each of the modules monitoring at least one component. Each module can be configured to switch a configuration of its wireless radio from a client to a wireless access point. A radio of one of the module can be dynamically configured to be the wireless access point, with the remaining ones of the modules being configured to connect to the wireless access point.

A server having a first set of content stored within a memory can be communicatively coupled with one or more clients such as using a plurality of wireless access points. Each of the clients can have a processor, memory, and transceiver, such that it can communicate with the server and potentially its neighbors. Groups of the clients can be communicatively coupled, such as via a wired or wireless network, which permits the clients to communicate with one another to retrieve content, for example, rather than burden the server or the wireless access points.

摘要: An entertainment system including a removable seat-back display unit and a docking station. The seat-back display unit can include a rotating latch butterfly release mechanism that prevents unauthorized release of the display unit from the docking station. The system can include a three-point attachment system that provides additional protection against accidental detachment of the display unit, and provide safety in the event of partial dislodging. The system can include a current control pin system that ensures that current is not provided from the docking station to the display unit until the respective connectors have been properly engaged. The system can further include a floating pin connector dock that can allow for installation of the display unit even when the connectors of the display unit and docking station become misaligned. The system can also include a heat dissipation system that employs the docking station to share the heat dissipation load with the display unit.

摘要: Transaction systems and methods are described for verifying transactions in a vehicle. The transactions utilize blockchains of a cryptocurrency to allow for verification of a transaction even where a live Internet connection is unavailable. The systems and methods utilize a digital wallet stored in the vehicle that allows for transactions with a passenger having a passenger digital wallet. A plurality of local nodes disposed in the vehicle store a local and updated copy of the blockchain to allow for verification of the cryptocurrency transactions even during periods of intermittent internet connectivity.
