    摘要: A wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member formed with double row outer raceway surfaces on its inner circumferential surface. An inner member includes a wheel hub with a wheel mounting flange integrally formed at one end and a cylindrical portion axially extending from the wheel mounting flange. At least one inner ring is fit onto the cylindrical portion of the wheel hub. The inner ring is formed with double row inner raceway surfaces on its outer circumferential surface. The double row inner raceway surfaces are arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are rollably arranged between the outer and inner raceway surfaces, via cages. A seal is mounted on one end of the outer member. The seal has integrally formed side lips adapted to be in sliding contact with the wheel hub. The base of the wheel mounting flange is formed to have a curved surface, in cross-section, of a circular arc. The seal has three inclined side lips each extending radially outward from the seal body. The lips are adapted to be in sliding contact with the base of the wheel mounting flange. Interference of the side lips against the base of the wheel mounting flange is set so that the radially inner side lip has a smaller interference than that of the radially outer side lips, in order.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member, an inner member, and double row rolling elements freely rollably contained between the inner and outer raceway surfaces of the inner and outer members. A brake pilot portion extends from a base of a wheel hub mounting flange toward the outer side to guide an inner circumferential surface of a brake rotor. A wheel pilot portion extends from the brake pilot portion further toward the outer side to guide an inner circumferential surface of the wheel. The wheel pilot portion including a plurality of separated pilots separated along a circumferential direction. A chamfered portion is formed, by forging, on a forward end of each separated pilot in view of its lathe cutting direction. The chamfered portion has a predetermined inclined angle relative to an axial end surface of each separated pilot after lathe cutting.

The body mounting flange is formed with a plurality of screw apertures. An inner side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by machining to have a flat vertical surface relative to a longitudinal axis of a wheel hub. An outer side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by forging to have a tapered surface of a predetermined inclined angle. Thus, the thickness of the body mounting flange is gradually reduced radially outward.

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member formed on its outer circumference with a body mounting flange to be mounted on a suspension of a vehicle. Its inner circumference includes double row outer raceway surfaces. An inner member includes a wheel hub formed on one end with a wheel mounting flange. A cylindrical portion axially extends from the flange. An inner ring or an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint is press-fit onto the outer circumference of the wheel hub. The inner ring is formed on its outer circumference with inner raceway surfaces arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are freely rollably contained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces of the outer and inner members, via cages. Seals are mounted within annular openings formed between the outer and the inner members. A backup seal is fit onto the outer circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The backup seal has a metal core that includes a cylindrical fitting portion and an upstanding portion that extends radially outward from the fitting portion. A sealing member is integrally adhered to the metal core. The sealing member has a side lip formed so that it extends radially outward from the metal core and inclines toward the inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange to slidably contact the flange, via a predetermined interference.

    摘要: A wheel bearing apparatus has a wheel speed detecting apparatus which can prevent ingress of foreign matter into the wheel speed detecting portion of the wheel bearing apparatus. The wheel bearing apparatus has an encoder (19) mounted on the outer circumferential surface of an inner ring (6). A sensor holder (15) is arranged on the end of the outer member (4) opposite to the encoder (19). The sensor holder (15) includes an annular fitting member (16) and a holding portion (17). The holding portion (17) is formed by synthetic resin molded integrally with the annular fitting member (16). A wheel speed detecting sensor (20) is embedded in the resin and is positioned opposite to the encoder (19), via a predetermined gap between the two. A seal (11) is arranged at the inboard side of the encoder (19). The seal (11) includes a first sealing plate (21) and a second sealing plate (22) fit, respectively, on the sensor holder (15) and the inner ring (6). The tip end (26) of the annular fitting member (16) is enveloped by plastic resin that forms the holding portion (17).

    摘要: A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has a seal with a metal core and a sealing member. The metal core includes a cylindrical fitting portion press-fit into an end of the inner circumference of an outer member. A radially inner portion extends radially inward from the fitting portion. The sealing member is integrally adhered to the metal core. The sealing member has a side lip that is radially outwardly inclined. Either one of the metal core or the sealing member is formed with a weir portion that extends radially outward from the fitting portion of the metal core. The weir portion opposes the inner-side surface of the wheel mounting flange, via a small axial gap, to form a labyrinth seal. The weir portion also opposes the outer-side end face of the outer member, via a predetermined axial gap, to form an annular discharging groove.
