Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to improving shared file access in wide area network file systems. In a particular implementation, one or more elements of a wide area file system cooperate to keep an original file intact on a remote file server until a new copy of the same file is flushed to the remote file server. In a particular implementation, rename operations identifying a source and a target in connection with application-level save operations are executed as two composite operations including creation of the target, and a delayed deletion of the source. The delay after which the source is deleted can be configured to be just large enough so that the application save operation on a local cache can be completed.

A powertrain system includes an electric motor/generator unit. Upon detecting an open high-voltage switch associated with a high-voltage DC electrical bus, low-voltage electrical power is employed to energize the high-voltage DC electrical bus, control parameters are adjusted to operate the electric motor/generator unit in a fault tolerant electric generation mode, an internal combustion engine is operated to spin the electric motor/generator unit, and the electric motor/generator unit is operated in the fault tolerant electric generation mode.

Abstract:
A method for improving a failure mode diagnostic of an electric power steering system by overcoming a motor electric lock condition due to position sensor signal corruption or other motor faults. If certain conditions are met, the method determines that the motor is in an electric lock condition, and then reduces a torque current command to the motor so that it is able to be rotated by a vehicle hand-wheel. Once the motor is able to be rotated, then the method determines whether certain conditions have been met to determine whether the position sensor is malfunctioning.
Abstract:
The present invention, in particular embodiments, provides methods, apparatuses and systems directed to providing a Wide Area File System that is robust against network connectivity issues. In particular implementations, the present invention provides a WAFS disconnected-mode read-write access that provides for a more seamless user experience against WAN or other network connectivity failures. Specific embodiments provide for management, at a network device such as an EFG node, of file objects previously opened during a connected state with a remote file server appliance, creation of new file objects during a disconnected state and re-synchronization of those file objects (data and meta-data) when a connection becomes available.
Abstract:
A motor control strategy for a motor in a front steering system for a vehicle that reduces vibrations from the motor being transferred to a vehicle hand-wheel. The control strategy also includes operating the electric motor in a commutation freeze mode if a position error signal is less than a first predetermined threshold by sending signals to coils of the motor to prevent to the motor from rotating, operating the electric motor in a commutation normal mode if the position error signal is greater than a second predetermined threshold that is greater than the first predetermined threshold, and operating the electric motor in an angle step mode if the position error signal is between an intermediate threshold and the second threshold where the angle step mode provides a signal to the motor to move the motor forward or backward a predetermined number of motor steps, one step at a time.
Abstract:
An arc fault detector includes a shunt resistor deployed in a protected circuit, an arc discriminator sensing voltages across the shunt resistor and producing an arc indication deduced from current variations associated with parallel and series arc faults, a signal transformer buffering the arc detection signal and producing a pulse, a switch transient detector sensing a voltage differential across load switches and producing a pulsed switch transient signal when the voltage differential across load switches exceeds a reference value, a line interrupter, such as a static relay, a switch controller including logic gates generating a trip signal based on predetermined criteria, and a manual switch for resetting the line interrupter. An embodiment comprises a voltage sensing coil enveloping a toroidal core to detect current variations in conductors passing through the core.

Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to reducing network traffic and processing overhead associated with directory refresh operations in wide area network file systems. In a particular implementation, the frequency of synchronization of certain directory contents information, such as security attribute information, that changes less frequently is reduced relative to other types of directory contents information that changes more frequently, such as file and folder names, last modified times, and the like. Other implementations reduce garbage collection overhead for a cached file system by deferring deletion of invalidated objects in a directory until a client application specifically identified the directory.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to write command processing in distributed file caching systems. Implementations of the invention allow for write operations to identified files to proceed, while information regarding the identified file is fetched from a remote host and a locally cached version of the file is constructed. Implementations of the present invention can be configured to improve the performance of wide area network file systems, while preserving file consistency.
