    摘要: A method and arrangement for resolution enhancement of a coordinate input device. The method includes the steps of receiving a predetermined number of light beams, which are generated from a light source and passed through a rotating grating disc, by a light detector; detecting the intensity of the light beams by the light detector so as to receive a continuous response voltage signal; converting the continues response voltage signal to a digital signal; and distinguishing the digital signal as at least three different detecting modes by a plurality of predetermined critical values for enhancing the resolution of the coordinate input device. The arrangement includes a light detector having at least two light sensors for receiving at least two light beams generated from a light source and passed through a rotatable grating disc, wherein the light sensors detect the intensity of the light beams as at least three different detecting modes and generate a predetermined number of continuous response voltage signals. A pair of analog digital converters, which are connected with the two light sensors, are adapted to transform the continuous response voltage signals to a predetermined number of digital signals for distinguishing the varying between the three different detecting modes. A computing determination logic is connected with the pair of analog digital converted for distinguishing the different detecting modes of the digital signals according to a plurality of predetermined critical values for resolution enhancement.

    摘要: An apparatus detects the number of tracks traversed on an optical disk. The apparatus includes a differentiation part for differentiating an output signal of a bandpass filter provided on an adjacent stage which eliminates a low DC component, a high frequency component and noise of an inputted modulation signal. A sample trigger generating circuit generates top and bottom signals in response to a data signal outputted through the differentiation part and a signal outputted through a comparator. A top hold part and a bottom hold part holds the data signal at top and bottom. A subtraction part performs a subtraction to obtain a difference between the top and bottom signals outputted from the top and bottom hold parts, thereby resulting in counting the number of the tracks traversed, while increasing a jumping speed required for a detection of the number of the tracks traversed.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for approaching a focusing region are provided. The apparatus for approaching the focusing region includes a focus error detector, a signal envelope detector, a focusing region detector, a pulse generator for generating search pulses, a time counter, an offset generator, an adder, an actuator driver and a controller. The apparatus approaches the focusing region based on the generating search pulses, which are output in response to a signal generated by the signal envelope detector and a signal output by the focusing region detector. When a subsequent approach to the focusing region is made after finishing a first approach to the focusing region, the actuator is controlled by adding the search pulses to an offset voltage calculated when the first approach to the focusing region was performed to quickly position the object lens in the focusing region.

The clock recovery circuit includes an active element mixer for doubling the frequency of the received non-return to zero encoded digital signal. The mixer includes a delay element for delaying the received non-return to zero signal and an exclusive-OR circuit for exclusive-ORing the delayed and received non-return to zero signals. A SAW filter is also provided for recovering a clock from the frequency doubled signal outputted by the mixer.
