The first wireless communication portion is configured to carry out communication at a higher speed and with a larger capacity than the second wireless communication portion. The second wireless communication portion is configured to carry out more reliable communication than the first wireless communication portion.

An operation assistance system for a grain processing facility includes: a database configured to store, in a correlated manner, a first characteristic of a first grain delivered to a model facility, a first operational parameter of the model facility used in processing the first grain in the model facility, and an index value actually measured with respect to taste of the first grain after being processed in the model facility; a reception portion configured to receive a second characteristic of a second grain delivered to a satellite facility; a calculation portion configured to calculate, based on the received second characteristic and information accumulated in the database, a second operational parameter to be used in processing the second grain in the satellite facility; and a providing portion configured to provide the calculated second operational parameter to the satellite facility via a network.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting microorganisms in ballast water, the apparatus including: an excitation light source provided with light sources for emitting excitation light to irradiate an irradiated surface of sample solution continuously; photodetector detecting light of fluorescence emission caused by excitation light from the excitation light source control means converting the light detected by the photodetector to an electrical signal to detect and count number of light emissions, and estimating the number of microorganisms included in a sample within the sample container from the number of light emissions; and an operation unit electrically connected to the control means. The excitation light source uses two different kinds of excitation light sources including a light source emitting light with a wavelength region causing phytoplankton to emit chlorophyll fluorescence and a light source emitting light with a wavelength region causing microorganisms stained by the fluorescent staining reagent to emit fluorescence.

Abstract: The piezoelectric actuator includes a piezoelectric element; a power supply applying a voltage to the piezoelectric element; a drive circuit that applies a voltage from the power supply to the piezoelectric element by a pulse charge signal and a discharge signal to charge, and discharges the charge charged in the piezoelectric element to drive the piezoelectric element; an abnormality detection circuit that detects an abnormality due to insulation failure of the piezoelectric element, and a control unit that determines whether or not the piezoelectric element is normal based on an abnormality detection signal. The abnormality detection circuit outputs the abnormality detection signal that detects a time corresponding to a period from when a current starts to flow to the piezoelectric element during charging to when a current stops to flow, and it is determined that the piezoelectric element is abnormal when the time is equal to or more than a set time.
