    摘要: A capacitive sensor is disclosed that includes a variable capacitor transducer that varies its capacitance with changes in an environmental parameter. The present invention is adapted to measure any linear parameter such as pressure, force, or distance. The sensor the present invention is compact, inexpensive to make, and easily fabricated using commonly available components. Furthermore, it is not susceptible to errors caused by vibration, acceleration, and its orientation to the earth's gravitational field. The output of the capacitive sensor does not substantially drift with changes in temperature.

A peripheral bumper is mounted to the housing exterior, the bumper including an extending portion which creates a discontinuous path for shock or impact loads applied to the bumper relative to a continual movement mechanism. The housing can further include a discontinuous region imposed in an engagement portion of the housing, the engagement portion permitting the housing to be directly attached to an inflatable blood pressure sleeve.

    摘要: A low-mass pointer element for a pressure measuring mechanism is made from a lightweight plastic paper material and includes a center hub having a through aperture which is sized to accommodate a rotatable shaft end of the pressure measuring mechanism. An indicating end of the pointer element is sloped downwardly toward a dial face relative to the center hub to prevent parallax along with a counterbalancing portion. The indicating end is inwardly tapered to a flattened distal end to provide equivalent stiffness, but with considerably less mass so as to significantly reduce stress loads on a corresponding movement mechanism.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring a physical quantity or parameter includes a housing having a supportably mounted shaft member. A first end of the shaft member is placed in proximity with the output of a displacement device which is responsive to a change in the physical quantity. A ribbon spring member is coaxially disposed and wound helically about the supported shaft member, one end of the spring member being attached to the shaft and a remaining end to a supporting structure. Based on a change in the physical quantity, (pressure, velocity, temperature, etc.), the output of the displacement device engages the shaft member, which axially displaces and rotates due to the constraint of the ribbon spring member. The rotation of the shaft member produces a corresponding angular deflection of an attached pointer relative to readable indicia.
