    摘要: In the routing method and apparatus a second routing attempt via an alternate path from an originating node is implemented for a call given an unsuccessful routing attempt via a preferred route, i.e. the call is offered a further alternate path to the destination node. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the rerouting is updated at each call per traffic relationship (originating/destination node pair), using an evaluation storing device. A decision is made based on the evaluation as to whether the rerouting for this traffic relationship is to be maintained or throttled for following calls.

    摘要: The invention relates to a communications system and a method for establishing a broadband connection, for example a multi-media connection between two or more users, by means of exchanges in a communications network, for example an ATM network. According to the invention, when the exchanges receive a request from a calling user to establish a broadband connection, said exchanges first establish a minimal connection between the users and once the minimal connection is in operation between the users, the requested broadband connection is established. The users of broadband network capacities, which have been reserved by the network at the request of the user, are billed during the call phase. Broadband connections of this type can receive a higher priority than the upgrade of minimal connections to complete connections. A voice connection comprising audio data constitutes for example a minimal connection. The broadband connection takes place for example between video telephones.

    摘要: For distributing calls in a communication network, a central network authority that forwards calls from subscribers to servers for further servicing of the calls provides an optimally successful distribution, i.e. a low load-conditioned cleardown rate by the servers, even when it cannot directly register the workload of a server. In order to achieve this, the central network authority monitors the reason for the cleardown of a call by a server and excludes a server from the call distribution procedure for a specific time span when this server clears an allocated calldown due to lack of adequate capacity.

In a network element of the access network an IP session between a client network and an IP provider network is registered by means of a Layer 2 address assigned to the client network and an IP address assigned to this Layer 2 address. In the network element an IP service connection between the network element and an IP provider network is defined by means of a Layer 2 address assigned to the IP provider network. Further an active IP session is assigned to at least one IP service connection and/or a plurality of active IP sessions are assigned to the same IP service connection. In the network element the switching of the IP packets from active IP sessions to service connections and vice versa is performed by means of the aforementioned assignments.

In the course of the telephone connection, a data connection additionally needs to be set up. A service provided by the telephone network operator and an appropriate method taking place on the subscribers data terminal equipment automatically transfer the data network addresses of the subscribers involved in a connection and also the connection configuration of the telephone connection to the subscribers data terminal equipment. This means that a data network connection can automatically be set up for a telephone connection on request.
