    摘要: This invention provides an apparatus and a method capable of improving the throughput, reducing the apparatus cost, and executing marginless copy with a natural impression. According to this invention, a multi-function printer executes marginless copy in the following. Marginless copy and a printing paper size are instructed. The position and size of an original placed on the original table of the scanner are detected. A reading area on the original table is decided on the basis of the instruction, detection result, and a predefined extra-printing size. Control is done to execute image reading while limiting the operation range of the sensor of the scanner so that the image original is read from the decided reading area.

In another aspect, in the power saving mode, a printer processing unit is not enabled, but then is enabled in reply to a change from the power saving mode to the normal mode, and a communication processing unit transfers control data to the printer processing unit in response to the change from the power saving mode to the normal mode to be used for controlling the printer unit.

    摘要: A communication apparatus suppresses an unnecessary recovery operation when the communication apparatus is raised from a low power consumption mode to a normal operation mode to shorten a time before a printer unit is ready for printing. When the printer unit wakes up from a sleep mode, a time counted by a recovery timer in a facsimile control unit is sent to the printer unit as time data through a bilateral path. A CPU in the printer unit adds time data stores in an NVRAM at the time of entry of the facsimile apparatus to the low power consumption mode to the sent time data to determine the recovery level based on the sum time data and the recovery operation is executed. When the supply of power to an ink jet printer is stopped to reduce the power consumption, a timer in the printer and a bilateral record correction value deviate so that the recovery operation which is to be executed at an interval of 72 hours cannot be executed at the correct time interval. A non-power-supply time of the printer is notified from the main unit to the printer through a serial communication unit when the power is supplied to the printer next time in stopping the supply of power to the printer for power saving so that the timer in the printer is corrected.

    摘要: This invention relates an image printing apparatus capable of copying by executing enlargement/reduction (E/R) processing optimum to an instructed mode. According to the apparatus, a copy mode and an enlargement rate are input. The use priority order of each enlargement/reduction (E/R) unit of the apparatus is decided. The enlargement rate is distributed to each E/R unit in accordance with the copy mode, decided use priority order, and the E/R rate upper limit value of each E/R unit. An image is copied by causing each E/R unit to sequentially execute E/R processing in accordance with the distributed enlargement rate and the decided use priority order and causing a printing unit to print based on the image data that has undergone the E/R processing.
