An electric toaster composed of a base, a case having an upper end, a toasting chamber disposed in the case and having an opening in the form of a slot at the upper end for the introduction and removal of bread, a movable bread support rack in the chamber, and at least one substantially vertical heating element as described above.

The present invention relates to a domestic electric cooking oven (1) comprising an enclosure (2) defined by two side faces (4a, 4b), a top face (4c), a bottom face (4e), and a rear face (4d), main heater means of the radiant type that emit essentially in the infrared arranged inside the enclosure (2), said oven (1) including a cabinet (16) surrounding the major portion of the enclosure (2) over the side faces (4a, 4b) and the top face (4c), the front face of the oven being fitted with a door and with a control panel, the oven (1) being characterized in that it includes means for limiting heating of the oven cabinet (16), selected from the following: confinement by partitioning the space between the top (4c) of the enclosure (2) and the top portion (18c) of the cabinet (16); a reflector (20); no ventilation openings in the cabinet (16); and a metal face plate (28) disposed substantially over the door, and connected to the cabinet (16) by an insulating rod (30).

A process and apparatus for grilling and/or reheating a food product by subjecting the product, for an operating time T, to infrared radiation from at least one electrically operated unit for producing infrared radiation, the process comprising: setting a preestablished value for a frequency f; and varying, during at least part of the time T, the electrical supply to the electrically operated unit in a discontinuous manner between a first supply level during a time T1 and a second supply level, different from the first level, during a time T2 in cycles having the preestablished frequency f in order to generate infrared radiation of variable wavelength, wherein 1/f=T1+T2 whereby the product is heated by the infrared radiation.

A toasting apparatus for bread products (15), consisting of a frame (2) provided with an insertion slot (3) communicating with a toasting chamber (3a) that receives the products and is located between heating elements (10) combined with heat reflectors (6) for directing the thermal energy generated by the heating elements (10) at the products, particularly in the form of radiation. The apparatus is provided with an observation system for visually monitoring the degree of toasting of the products (15) in the toasting chamber (3a). The observation system includes a lighting device (11) for illuminating the toasting chamber (3a) in such a way that an accurate indication of the color of the products (15) being prepared is provided. The toasting apparatus may be in the form of a toaster.
