A particulate material removing filter for exhaust gas from a diesel engine is provided. The particulate material removing filter is formed by laminating metal laths having an oxidation catalyst layer containing a noble metal that oxidizes nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas into nitrogen dioxide. The metal laths are laminated to form a laminate in such a manner that the drawing direction of the metal lath processing differs by 90 degrees with each other.

An object of the present invention is to provide a method and a device, which can suppress poisoning due to CO and efficiently remove a low concentration of amines contained in a gas discharged from a CO2 recovery device that uses various absorbing liquids of CO2 even at low temperature. A discharged gas treatment method for removing amines as absorbent contained in a gas discharged from a CO2 removal device, in which the CO2 removal device has used the amines, the method comprising alternatively performing the step of passing the discharged gas through a catalyst-packed bed which is packed with a catalyst composed of titanium oxide and an oxide of vanadium (V) or titanium oxide, an oxide of vanadium and an oxide of molybdenum (Mo) or tungsten (W), to adsorb and remove the amines contained in the discharged gas; and the step of passing heated air through the catalyst-packed bed wherein the amines are adsorbed thereon to heat the catalyst, and at the same time performing elimination and oxidative decomposition of the adsorbed amines.

The invention is to provide (1) a method for decomposing chlorine containing organic compounds (DXNs) contained in an exhaust gas in which method a high decomposition ratio of the DXNs can be obtained even at a low temperature and the effects by SOx can be repressed to a minimum and (2) a method for treating a used catalyst; the method for decomposing DXNs contained in an exhaust gas comprises contacting the DXNs contained in the exhaust gas with nitrogen dioxide (NO2) which is contained in the exhaust gas or added from the outside into the exhaust gas at 100 to 450° C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising a titanium oxideu, molybdenum oxide, and vanadium oxide, the contents of Ti, Mo, and V in which catalyst being in the range of 99 to 70/0.5 to 15/0.5 to 15 in terms of atomic ratio, respectively, to oxidatively decompose the DXNs with the nitrogen dioxide; and acocording to the method for treating a used catalyst, the DXNs adhered to the catalyst can be made innoxious by contacting the used catalyst with a gas containing NO2 to oxidatively decompose the DXN2 adhered to the catalyst, with the NO2.

The catalyst structure of the present invention for purifying an exhaust gas is preferable for increasing the contact of an exhaust gas, to be treated, with a catalyst by disturbing the flow of the exhaust gas in a gas flow passage thereby obtain a highly efficient and compact apparatus for treating the exhaust gas. Such catalyst structure is produced by forming two or more catalyst elements each supporting a catalyst component on its surface and having flat plate portions and level-changing portions formed alternately therein with the angle formed between the flat plate portion and the level-changing portion being in a specific range, and then stacking the catalyst elements in a frame. A catalyst structure is also obtained by stacking a large number of the catalyst elements described above through metallic, ceramic, or glass netlike members interposed therebetween and each having a large number of perforated holes. The catalyst structure has such advantages that dust is hardly deposited between the catalyst elements, that a sufficiently high strength can be obtained even when the thickness of catalyst elements is reduced, and that the catalyst structure can be placed in an exhaust gas flue to use as an exhaust gas treating apparatus. When the exhaust gas treating apparatus is employed, an efficient exhaust gas treatment can be effected without damaging the catalyst elements while repressing the pressure loss.
