摘要: Provided herein are modified cyclin F polypeptides and nucleic acid molecules encoding the same. In particular, provided herein are modified cyclin F polypeptides that have increased cytoplasmic targeting compared to wild-type cyclin F polypeptides, and functional, truncated modified cyclin F polypeptides, and nucleic acid molecules encoding the same. Also provided herein is the use of the modified cyclin F polypeptides and encoding nucleic acid molecules for enhancing motor neuron survival, inhibiting motor neuron degeneration and treating neurodegenerative conditions, in particular those associated with neuronal TDP-43 proteinopathy.

摘要: Real time, remote access to and adjustment of the hearing aid of a patient while the patient is located in a normal life environment that is remote from a hearing professional. A session request initiates a programming session. Adjustable settings from the patient's hearing aid are wirelessly streamed to the patient's mobile device and from the mobile device to a streaming cloud server. The settings are stored on the cloud, streamed from the cloud to a hearing professional's computer or mobile device and displayed. The hearing professional then changes at least one of the adjustable hearing aid settings and the changed settings are streamed to the cloud, stored on the cloud, streamed from the cloud to the patient's mobile device, wirelessly transmitted to the hearing aid and stored there. A telephonic voice connection between the hearing professional and the patient's mobile device is used to transmit the patient's evaluation of changed settings to the hearing professional.

摘要: The technology relates to the use of 1-octanol, 1-nonanol, a combination thereof or compositions comprising either or both of 1-octanol and 1-nonanol for modifying the behaviour of tephritid fruit flies. In particular the 1-octanol, 1-nonanol or compositions described herein can be used to repel and/or modulate the feeding, mating or oviposition behaviour of tephritid fruit flies such as the Queensland fruit fly and the Mediterranean fruit fly.

摘要: Provided herein are methods for enhancing survival of a neuron, for inhibiting degeneration of a neuron, and for inhibiting abnormal protein accumulation in a neuron, optionally a motor neuron, comprising, consisting or consisting essentially of increasing the level of cyclin F in the neuron regardless of the neuron's level or activity of endogenous cyclin F. Optionally the neuron is in a subject with a neurodegenerative condition or at risk of developing a neurodegenerative condition, typically a neurodegenerative condition associated with a neuronal TDP-43 proteinopathy.

摘要: Provided herein are methods for treating, delaying the onset of, or ameliorating at least one symptom of, dementia associated with #-amyloid (A#) accumulation, and for improving memory in subjects suffering from dementia associated with A# accumulation, comprising administering to subjects in need thereof an effective amount of an inhibitor of LIMK1, wherein the inhibitor comprises a compound of Formula (I) as defined herein, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Also provided are methods for reducing A# toxicity in neurons, comprising exposing neurons to an effective amount of an inhibitor of LIMK1, wherein the inhibitor comprises a compound of Formula (I) as defined herein, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

摘要: Iterative methods for direction of arrival estimation of a signal at a receiver with a plurality of spatially separated sensor elements are described. A quantized estimate of the angle of arrival is obtained from a compressive sensing solution of a set of equations. The estimate is refined in a subsequent iteration by a computed error based a quantized estimate of the direction of arrival in relation to quantization points offset from the quantization points for the first quantized estimate of the angle of arrival. The iterations converge on an estimated direction of arrival.
