    摘要: Apparatus for readying wound bobbins having a bore axially therethrough is described. The apparatus includes support means mounting the wound bobbin for delivery from a reserve position to an active unwinding position. Means are provided to create a zone of negative pressure through the bore of the bobbin when the wound bibbin is disposed in its reserve position. This zone of negative pressure acts to induce the outer yarn end of the wound bobbin into the bore when the yarn end is positioned proximate to the bore. A perforated member is provided adjacent the lower end of the bore. This member serves to control the extent to which the outer yarn end is drawn into the bore. This member also serves as a surface on which the yarn may be formed into a bunch if a bunch is desired and controls the amount of yarn drawn into the bore.

    摘要: A device for providing an indication of the condition of a pressurized fluid circuit is disclosed. The device includes means defining a restricted zone and a supply of compressible material positioned in communication with the restricted zone. The restricted zone is provided with aperture means exposing at least a portion of the compressible material for visual inspection. Fluid inlet means are connected with a fluid circuit and operate to admit pressurized fluid to the restricted zone, in consequence of which the compressible material is compressed. The contrasting relaxed and compressed conditions of the compressible material afford visual indications of the condition of the fluid circuit.

    摘要: Fluid operated devices such as pneumatic or hydraulic rams are controlled by multiple-flow valve apparatus operable from momentary fluid trigger pulses to initiate both fluid power drive and exhaust functions. Thus a fluid pulse triggered bistable state fluid path logic control element controls in a logic network at least one pair of slave valves which respectively convey fluid under pressure from a source to an output channel and exhaust the output channel in response to the state of the logic element. The logic elements and valves comprise a compartment with a diaphragm movable into opposing chambers in response to fluid pressures in contact therewith to open or close fluid flow paths through at least one chamber. Accordingly, a piston may be reciprocated at will or other load devices may be operated from steady state or continuing fluid paths controlled by momentary fluid pulses either randomly or cyclically in a simple efficient fluid controlled valve arrangement of interconnected fluid logic elements.

    摘要: Apparatus is provided for detecting the oscillation of a moving strand of yarn at a particular frequency as it is being wound about a bobbin. The strand when oscillating, impinges more than once upon photoelectric detector cells moved past a detection station to thereby give electric output pulses as an indication of proper yarn feed. Indicator signals may be provided by counting the cell output pulses or by measuring the time between successive pulses. Multiple cells may be presented in sequence with two signal processing channels being used to provide higher reliability or detection speeds and to eliminate spurious signals produced by either a-c or d-c noise superimposed upon the photocells.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for readying filled supply bobbins for receipt by a winding machine. As each bobbin is processed its unwinding end is trimmed and a jet delivers the end through a mouth of a bunch maker and into a chamber which diverges from proximate the mouth. A vortex then carries the unwinding end into the chamber and deposits the unwinding end in a circuitous pattern substantially within an annular concavity in a perforate member forming an end face of the wide portion of the chamber. The amount of yarn deposited in the chamber may be varied to vary the size of a resultant bunch. In order to more readily and uniformly discharge the unwinding end from the perforate member and carry it outwardly through the chamber to provide a compact bunch, air for discharging the bunch is substantially simultaneously passed through all of the perforations with substantially equal force. The resultant bunch is compressed as the flow of air carries it through the chamber and into a neck between the chamber and the mouth. This air passes through vents in the chamber wall upstream of the neck to keep from driving the bunch through the mouth. A ram then moves the compressed bunch through the mouth and deposits the bunch at a desired location in a hollow core of the bobbin which has been positioned at the mouth. In order to provide the previously mentioned discharging air flow through the perforations, a second chamber is provided in communication through the perforate member with the first mentioned chamber. A piston is received in the second chamber. The vortex air stream which deposits the unwinding end on the perforate member passes through the perforations and in conjunction with vacuum applied to both ends of the second chamber, the piston is positioned at the end of the second chamber opposite the perforate member. The vortex air and the vacuum is then stopped and air pressure is introduced into the second cylinder to drive the piston toward the perforate member, whereupon the piston compresses the discharging air which passes with substantially equal force through the perforations of the perforate member.

    摘要: A take-up spindle carries axially spaced chucks each having a body carrying a plurality of chuck members for gripping the inner face of a hollow take-up core. Each chuck has a plurality of concentric springs which urge an actuator into a gripping position to cam the chuck members into gripping engagement with the core. Release mechanism concurrently urges the actuators of all the chucks to a released position whereupon the chuck members of each chuck are urged to a retracted position by an annular spring received in notches in generally radial faces of the respective chuck members. The chuck members are small and light weight to effectively eliminate resultant centrifugal force deforming the core, and are mounted to maintain a normal gripping force on the core although the core may tend to move axially of the spindle and chucks.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for imparting twist to textile filaments and a friction twister therefor wherein a plurality of turns of twist are imparted to the filament for each revolution of the friction twister. The disclosed friction twister comprises two hollow spindles containing frictional engagement means therein. The two spindles are driven by pivoting the twister about a pivot point so that the hollow spindles come into engagement with a drive belt that passes between the spindles. Reversing guide means is provided to allow a filament to enter the front portion of one spindle and exit from the front portion of the other spindle. Another embodiment of the reversing guide means has a capacity to handle two filaments simultaneously.
