    摘要: An object of the present invention is to efficiently absorb the energy of an external force applied to a vehicle body without an appreciable increase in weight of an automobile. To achieve the object, the present invention provides an impact energy absorber made of a composite in which kraft paper is placed on the outside and inside of a metal sheet such as iron foil or hard aluminum foil. The impact energy absorber is a flexible pipe having a substantially quadrangular cross section and provided with spiral-shaped concaves and convexes on the outside and inside of hard aluminum foil. The energy absorber is bonded to the room-side surface of an outer panel of the vehicle body using an adhesive. When an external force is applied to the energy absorber, the energy absorber can absorb the energy of the external force by being deformed plastically.

    摘要: A manufacturing method for ceramic-ceramic composite powders including the steps of; forming a suspension by mixing an inorganic powder having a cation-exchange property with a solution containing one or more metal ions to conduct ion exchange with the metal ions on the surface of the inorganic powder; adding to the suspension a precipitant-forming material which releases an anion in a solution when heated or pressurized; heating or pressurizing the suspension to release the anion which reacts with the metal ions to thereby precipitate metal hydroxides, metal basic salts or metallic salts on the surface of the inorganic powder; and thereafter heating the inorganic powder with the resultant precipitates to convert the precipitates into metal oxides. Metal-ceramic composite powders are manufactured by reducing the above metal oxides on the surface of the inorganic powder to metal. In the composite powders any arbitrary amount of metal oxides or metal is supported on the surface of the inorganic powder.

    摘要: An automotive automatic power transmission system having a torque converter contained in a converter housing and a planetary gear system powered by the torque converter. The planetary gear system is contained in a gear housing detachably secured to the converter housing. The planetary gear system has an output shaft carrying an output gear meshing with an idler gear which is in turn in meshed relationship with a driven gear of a final drive unit. The aforesaid gears are of the helical type and are rotatable about parallel axes, with a resulting axial thrust on the output shaft in a direction towards the planetary gear system during rotation of the output gear in the forward direction. The output shaft is journalled between first and second thrust bearings, with the first thrust bearing being carried on a hollow member detachably fixed to the converter housing and protruding axially therein to support the torque converter stator on a one-way clutch. The second thrust bearing is radially and axially supported exclusively by the converter housing and is provided with a loading capacity greater than that of said first bearing.

    摘要: A change-speed transmission comprises: an input member; an output member; a planetary gearing unit; a hydrokinetic unit having a pump connected to the input member for simultaneous rotation therewith and a turbine; and first, second and third clutches. The transmission has a condition in which all of the torque of the input member is transmitted to the output member through the hydrokinetic unit, a condition in which all of the torque of the input member is transmitted to the output member bypassing the hydrokinetic unit, and a condition in which a portion of the torque of the input member is transmitted to the output member bypassing the hydrokinetic unit and the remaining portion of the torque of the input member is transmitted to the output member through the hydrokinetic unit.

    摘要: A hydraulic control system for a torque converter including a lockup clutch is disclosed in which a first or feed passageway communicates with a source of pressurized fluid and with a torque converter chamber, a second or discharge passageway communicates with the torque converter chamber and a third passageway communicates with a lock-up control or clutch chamber of the lockup clutch. A lock-up control valve communicates with the same source of pressurized fluid and with the third passageway. The first passageway is provided with a flow restrictor. With the provision of the flow restrictor, the disengagement of the lockup clutch will be assured upon pressurization of the third passageway.

    摘要: Simple passage structure of a lock-up torque converter is disclosed. With this passage structure an output shaft without any circumferential groove can be used. The output shaft has an axial passage and a radial passage communicating with the axial passage. A first spacer is mounted within an annular space between the output shaft and a stationary sleeve to divide the annular space into a first annular chamber and into a second annular chamber. The first annular chamber communicates with the inside of a turbine runner, while the second annular chamber communicates with the radial passage of the output shaft and with a control valve. A second spacer is mounted axially spaced from the first spacer and forms with the first annular spacer the second annular chamber. The second annular chamber and the radial and axial passages of the output shaft provide communication between the control valve and a clutch chamber of a direct drive clutch.
