摘要: Disclosed herein is a microplate comprising a plurality of wells and methods and systems comprising such microplates, wherein an individual well comprises an opaque or non-transparent surface at or near the bottom of the well. The microplates herein can provide improved visualization of the process of filling a well with a liquid reagent. The microplates can be configured to perform chemical analysis, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or nucleic acid detection.

The optical systems are in a fixed position relative to a thermal assembly and include at least one array of excitation sources (e.g., light emitting diodes (LEDs)) configured to output excitation energy along an excitation optical path. In addition, a detector configured to receive emission energy along a detection optical path in the same plane as the excitation optical path is also provided.
