摘要: A gas sensor includes a sensor element. The sensor element has a solid electrolytic member, a measurement electrode, and a reference electrode. The measurement electrode is provided on the solid electrolytic member, and is exposed to a measurement gas. The reference electrode is provided on the solid electrolytic member, and is exposed to a reference gas. A heater operates for heating the sensor element. A portion of the heater contacts a portion of the sensor element. The temperature of the sensor element is increased to 300° C. by the heater in ten seconds after the start of activation of the heater.

摘要: An air-fuel ratio sensor is provided in which sensor lead wires are held by a rubber bush at an end of a sensor housing. The rubber bush is made of a rubber material having a 100% modulus strength equal to or larger than 60 Kgf/cm.sup.2 even after the sensor is used under a temperature environment of 300.degree. C. for 100 hours.

摘要: An air fuel ratio sensor has a sensor element having a sensing portion and a flange portion in contact with a tapered portion of an accommodation hole of a housing. The sensor element is hot crimped at a hot crimping portion of a housing. At least the hot crimping portion is made of a ferritic stainless steel formed by cold forging and having a composition content comprising a total amount of C and N impurities of 0.03 wt % or below. The average hot crimping temperature of the housing is performed at lower than 1000.degree. C. as applied for a time period of one second or less.

摘要: A gas sensing element comprises a solid electrolytic element, a measured gas sensing electrode provided on an outer surface of the solid electrolytic element, and a reference gas sensing electrode facing a reference gas chamber. A heater is accommodated in the reference gas chamber. A contact portion is provided on an outer cylindrical surface of the heater so that the contact portion is brought into contact with an inside surface of the solid electrolytic element defining the reference gas chamber. A heating peak position of the heater is in the vicinity of the contact portion.

摘要: A lead wire for a sensor has a conductor unit including at least stainless steel wires and copper wires. By setting the cross-sectional percentage of the stainless steel wires in the conductor unit within the range of 30 to 70%, it is possible to obtain a lead wire having low electrical resistance, and high flexibility, tensile strength and elasticity. There are preferred values in hardness and heat treatment of the stainless steel wires. The copper wires are preferably coated with an antioxidant film. The lead wire may include hybrid wires stranded together and obtained by integrally molding or forming stainless steel and copper. It is preferable that the lead wire is coated with an insulating coating material such as a Teflon type resin.

摘要: A gas sensor measuring a given component content in a gas is provided which has an outer and an inner metallic cover, a sensing unit, and an insulator. The sensing unit consists of a measuring electrode to be exposed to the gas to be measured and a reference electrode to be exposed to a reference gas in a reference gas chamber. The measuring electrode and the reference electrode are disposed adjacent each other through a solid electrolyte body. The inner metallic cover is installed on an end of a sensor housing. The outer metallic cover is installed on the periphery of the inner metallic cover. The insulator is mounted within the inner metallic cover and has formed therein holes through which sensor signal pickup leads pass. The insulator has an outer wall different in geometry from an inner wall of the inner metallic cover to define a portion of a reference gas passage therebetween which leads to the reference gas chamber.

摘要: An air fuel ratio sensor having an externally located heat source and an optical fiber heat introduction member. The heat introduction member is inserted into an inside chamber of a sensor element having a U-shaped cross section, and is connected to the external heat source outside the sensor element for introducing heat from the external heat source into the inside chamber. The heat introduction member is further connected to a temperature detector outside the sensor body. Accordingly, an air fuel ratio sensor can have sufficient durability and sufficient starting performance, and a temperature inside the sensor element can be readily detected.

摘要: A gas sensor includes a sensor element having one end portion exposed to gas to be measured. A plurality of electrodes are provided on the other end portion of the sensor element. A plurality of terminal contacts are resiliently held in electrical contact with the electrodes, respectively, in such a manner that the terminal contacts hold the other end portion of the sensor element therebetween. The electrodes are so provided on the sensor element that the terminal contacts abut against the electrodes to prevent the sensor element from being moved axially and laterally.

摘要: A small-sized highly accurate gas sensor, which is excellent in its reliability of electric connections between contacts and fixtures while being freed from any damage, includes a base member; a detecting unit mounted on the base member for detecting a gas concentration; electrodes mounted on the detecting unit; cylindrical contacts buried integrally in an end portion of the base member; and electric leads interposed between the cylindrical contacts and the electrodes. Contacting fixtures for external lead wires are fitted in and contact the cylindrical contacts so that they are connected to the cylindrical contacts. The cylindrical contacts are formed in their openings with engaging entrances having a smaller diameter than the internal diameter, and the contacting fixtures include elastic contacting portions adapted to be diametrically reduced, when inserted into the cylindrical contacts, than the engaging entrances and expanded, after inserted, to become larger than the engaging entrances and to contact the inner walls of the cylindrical contacts.
